_"We're on the same curve, but opposite ends."_ That's where the film tells you Elijah Price is the villain of the story. You instantly caught that and recognized if David is the Hero, then Elijah must be the villain since he's the opposite of David.

Not sure if anyone else posted about this, but the scene when the son is pointing the gun at David is inspired by a real life event, George Reeves the man who played Superman on TV in the 50s used to go to fan events for kids in costume, at one event a kid who thought he was the real Superman brought his dads gun because he wanted to see a bullet bounce off of him, George was able to talk the child down by convincing him that the bullet would bounce off of him, but it might ricochet and hit one of the other children

"They called me Mr. Glass." Fun Fact: Feature film debut of Laura Regan as a young Audrey. Casting Notes Fact: Writer/Director M. Night Shyamalan always had Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson in mind to play the roles of David Dunn and Elijah Price. Director M. Night Shyamalan cameos as the stadium drug dealer. Medical Fact: Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a real, but rare disease. Australian celebrity and reality television show personality Quentin Kenihan (who is disabled in real-life, which was seen and depicted in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)) was born with the disease. People with this disease generally don't grow to be as tall as Samuel L. Jackson. Osteogenesis Imperfecta is described as having 4 types each increasing in severity. At the time this movie was made only 4 types were identified. There are currently 8 types of the disorder identified as well as several subtypes.

"M Night the GOAT" Yep, that's what we all said after this movie. Then we got Signs and Village, which I liked, but everyone said was okay. Then we got Lady in the Water and Avatar, and we all bore witness to the greatest fall in Hollywood. He's super inconsistent. When he hits, he hits hard, but when he misses, it's just as bad. Just like Merril in Signs. M Night swings away.

@VelkanAngels

I liked Avatar better than the village. I predicted the plot twist in The Village veeeeery early on and legitimately thought it wasn't going to be the actual twist (because of how obvious it was. To me, anyway), so when nothing else happened and it turned out to be all there was to it, it just fell totally flat. Avatar wasn't great to me but it was HUGE when it came out and quite some time afterwards (certainly here in Denmark) and I found it much more enjoyable than The Village. Signs was pretty alright but imo would've been better, if he hadn't done the whole "wise old sensei in the body of a child"-trope.

I never noticed this before and I don't know if it's intentional or not, but in the beginning when the lady asks if she can sit next to him on the train and then the camera pans back-and-forth from the POV of the two seats in front of them...those two seats in front of them are both empty. She could have sat there all to herself.

I've never found out if M. Knight got inspiration for the son having a gun scene from this but a similar event happened back in the 1950's to George Reeves whom played Superman. He did a public appearance in character as Superman and a young boy wanted to see bullets bounce off his chest just like on TV. He had taken his father's pistol from home with live rounds and pointed it straight at Reeves from point blank range. Reeves managed to talk the boy into handing over the pistol saying the bullets would bounce off but they could also hit an innocent bystander. Tragically, years later, Reeves would die from a gun shot wound and the true circumstances are still a mystery. Some think he was murdered while some think he did it himself because he had become rather destitute.

David's main ability is psychometry. He is able to intuitively read and sense the minds of others, particularly if they have done as evil acts, by touching them. Think of it as like a form of telepathy. David's second most well known abilities are his superhuman strength and near-invulnerability. However, I find David's weakness of water to be interesting and quite ironic in a rather twisted sort of way.
@Heathen9
@Heathen9 9 ай бұрын
That wasn’t David’s “bat cave”. That was the train accident he went to see. Before he remembered what truly happened in the car wreck, he went to the rail yard where the DOT was conducting it’s investigation into what happened that caused the train to derail. It’s a lot like what the FBI did after 9/11. They took all that rubble of the WTC & spread it out in New Jersey, New York & Connecticut so investigators could each poor over the rubble to find clue’s & personal items. So, David went to the train investigation site & found the exact train he was sitting in. David saw the hole that ripped through the side & realized, his seat was right there. So there’s no way he wouldn’t have been hurt or at least scratched unless Elijah was correct. It was only then he thought back to the car accident & remembered what he did & above all, the choice he made that night to fake his injury. See David was crazy depressed almost his whole life after that car accident. On paper he was happy, he got married to his dream girl, had a child & bought a house. Yet he wasn’t doing what he was put on this Earth to do. Elijah showed David this. That’s why before Elijah shook David’s hand, he asked him if his depression was still there. David said it was gone & now he’s happy again. Also, if you pay attention, Elijah & David never touched each other the entire film until the end scene. David can only see things they’ve done or are going to do, if he physically touches them or bumps into them. David can’t just sense it. Glad you liked the film.

Elijah tells him that real life is more complicated than comics that not everything fits into little boxes. He proceeds to box himself in as the villain. Even if you think in terms of comics, there are good ones in wheelchairs. Charles Xavier. At least he can walk from time to time. If you want a hero you just have to look at the paramedics, nurses, firefighters. David wasted his talents as a security guard, he should have been a social worker. That's the real asset.

I'm a bit late to the party, but to answer J's question in the beginning... yes, that can happen to babies. As Mr. Glass said later in the movie, it's a rare genetic disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, AKA Brittle Bone Disease. And sadly it's a real thing. Individual cases can vary greatly in terms of their severity, but Type III cases often result in the baby being born with broken bones like is shown in the movie.
