Toyman is actually one of Superman's villains from the comic. The version i most like and am familiar with is the Superman the Animated Series one where he's this creepy man child with a plastic head that is a permanent happy go lucky smile. Its super cool and creepy. And yeah bad writers forget that Superman is a human being first and foremost. He was raised as a normal dude by normal people. He slowly gained his powers and had to deal with that and his lost heritage sure, but he is so very human. He does good with his powers because its the most human thing to do.

akiameko1984 Agreed. Looking back, Lois & Clark was a pretty good adaption on the Superman mythos. I mean where else do see Superman take on his greatest enemy: Lex Luger and his Godlike Selling. . . . Or am I thinking of a different Superman show, specifically when he is a teenager.

Cliff Hanger i was afraid she would hate on it or just note the cheesiness which people do. Show was based on the post crisis Superman comics started by John Byrne. Byrne in turn based it on the George Reeves show which focused alot on Clark Kent

By the time season 2 came, they brought in several Superman villains including Intergang, Metallo, and the Prankster. This was an incarnation of The Toyman based off his real name, season 3 had one time Superman villain Baron Sunday, and Season 4 had Mr. Mxyzptlk (which was played by Howie Mandel in that Christmas episode). I only know they brought in Lex Luthor in the first three seasons, a look-a-like Superman (which was basically their version of Bizzaro), and the DC villain Dr. Light in an episode.

I still remember that show having a gossip writer character who was always acting really predatory towards Clark and not very bright most of the time, until one episode in which, for some reason or another, Clark had to stay at her apartment. There he found out that she read hard literature and that the dumb thing was just her playing into the estereotype of the dumb vixen because that made people underestimate her and lower their guard. It was interesting, to give a bit of complexity to that random background character. I remember I liked that episode.

That reminds me of the "Smallville" Christmas Special "Lexmas" (yes , as if in Lex Luthor)There Lex Luthor (who up to this point was not quite the evil mastermind we all know today) get's shot in metropolis and while being treated in the hospital has a vision of a possible future where he and Lana Lang( up to a certain point in the series Clark Kents love interrest) have a Family . In this alternate timeline/dream he has given up on his fathers wealth (Lionel Luthor who is to an extend the main big bad until later seasons) and is now living a typical middle class live. However when Lana's life is on the line due to complications during the birth of their second child , Lex trys to plead to his father to give him some money to save her live . But he says nope and she dies. Then Lex wakes up and decides that this dream was a sign for him to change his ways.......so he choses money over all else and his path to the dark side continues. Meanwhile Clark (Better known as the Blue /Red/Black or just Blur , depending on the season of "Smallville" ) helps Cloe (Character from the show but later included in the Superman canon) to deliver toys all over Metropolis. There he encounters a drunk guy in a santa suit , who falls of a roof but is saved by Clark. Turns out this dude is real depressed. Clark gives him a bit of the good old spirit of christmas stuff and he's no longer suicidal. Anyway at the end of the episode it turns out that the drunk santa suit dude was .....you guessed it : The real Santa.

Yes, the villains name in the comics is Toyman, a villainous toymaker who makes supermans and the common persons life miserable with his toybased weapons of mass destruction. want to see a giant wind up robot rampage through downtown metropolis? Toyman is your man. Though he has had different incarnations, from a small manchild in a plastic doll head to a large deranged disfigured manchild turning children into dolls for their protection but never have I seen George Jefferson as the Toyman until Lois and Clark.

4:24 using his power and affinity for destruction to get money out of people?.. pretty sure that's called "extortion racket" from where I come from... Now I see how Bruce Wayne got his manor, he just asks Gotham for "protection fee"!.. 5:30 The Mask, for being a Jim Carrey action comedy with crazy props and ridiculous dance numbers, shows a very good message about that, with diferrent characters having their personalities reflect what they do after being possessed by... well, Loki. All of them are mischievous and irresponsible, but in VASTLY different ways.

basquat76 It was. After the mediocre (at best) product that was the third film, Reeve publicly swore he was done with the part, but when Cannon films got the option they put the creative pressures on him; offering him the chance to write it himself (technically, he only has a "story by" credit, but per the credited writers said he was actively involved in the process). They also sweetened the deal by offering to finance and distribute another project of his, Street Smart. I don't want to speak ill of one of my personal heroes, but he got hosed in the deal. Street Smart had limited distribution, and while it got an Oscar nomination, faded into obscurity very quickly. And the broken promises on Superman IV are legendary, specifically the budget being cut by more than half as production started. Looking back, I think Reeve should have risked the lawsuit and walked away.
