Exciting but a word of warning. Stuff on the shelf under the stairs - turn it upside down. You'll be surprised how much fluff& rubbish falls through the stairs. You'll end up washing bowls/cups b4 you can use then every day!

You could fix up a curtain in fabulous fabric over that unit in the main room as it would be useful to have that extra storage in the main room I’d also look at finding some sort of tension shelves to put inside it, by that I mean self supporting shelves inside with tension rods to hold them in place for things that aren’t too heavy but to make more of the space And good luck for your new life

Congrats on the move and the new apartment. Too funny when you described how uncomfortable the futon was; I like honesty! I agree with other comments, put the bowls & cups upside down, especially since they're under the stairs. Suggestion - ditch those plastic hangers. The flat velour ones take up less space, clothes stay on better and they look nicer. It will come together, that's the fun part, hunting for items for the new place.

I love the excitement of moving to a new place. I moved 3 times out of the US. Always alone except for my precious pug girl. Getting her papers together was one of the stressful things. The apartment is cheerful and laid out well. I hurt my knee on my first night arriving and realized I left my dog's collar and leash by the door in Atlanta. I used the tie to my bathrobe that night until I could go out the next day for a replacement. It is great you are doing this in the prime of your life. I did all mine late in my life. I am excited to see what is next. Cannot wait for you to get the decorating stage.😊

Exciting times ahead.. looking forward to you making your appartment your home😊. When I moved abroad I had a 80l rucksack.. I found stuff on the street (sofa, coffee table, kitchen table, dining room chairs), I made a bed frame for a futon mattress I bought off a colleague. I used an office side cupboard my work threw out, as a TV living room cupboard...then just spent on soft furnishings and a few wood shelves etc to make it cosy.. When I moved 5yrs later to another city I just left all the street-found furniture for recycle.. then in the new appartement bought a blow up sofa and living room chairs..I bought a bed and dining room table and 4 chairs. A year later I moved to another city..new long term job, married etc and I still live here 21yrs later..That is Ehen I finally stared to "invest" in big furniture pieces. I moved from a rental (10yrs) to my own (with ex) house in this city.. my house now is huge and I am decluttering! I am now divorced, two kids (both still at home) ..but craving simplicity of when I first moved here. My ex loved stuff and with kids it all got to much. I prefer minimal, stuff stressed me. Since he moved out, I have spent the last years decluttering. Had s few years break, but back on it this year. I would love to move back to the UK one day... it is good you kept your house on the Isle of Wight to go back to. My Tip: Don't buy to much, especially big stuff!.. time flies and you don't know how long you will stay there.

Thankful my younger brother is my travel partner or I’d likely not go. Pray you get your banking issues resolved quickly. Oh yes, a decent bed. I bought the world’s most comfortable bed a few months ago. Can’t imagine sleeping on the floor. In America they say, “What does not kill your only makes you stronger”. I’d say, “What does not kill me is likely to make me a tad grumpy”. I avoid near death experiences! Looking forward to seeing you once again change your environment to make it comfy. I've actually moved between countries three times. First was with my family, when we moved from HK to UK. The second time was when I moved back to HK for two and a half years for a job. Then, I returned to UK. The first move wasn't very stressful for me (mostly cause my parents took care of most things) and the second move wasn't too stressful either cause I had family still in HK and I had a working bank account I could use. I would say the most stressful move was coming back to UK, partially because I lost my job so suddenly because of COVID-19, which set a whole chain of events I'd planned for into a total mess 😅
