FYI The "Printer" style connector is in fact a USB-B its used more in Office & Industrial environments because it was designed to be stronger than USB-A & Mini USB, I honestly would take USB-B over Micro USB or USB-C any day of the week as I will feel better knowing it has a stronger connector.

Yeah it drives me nuts whenever somebody refers to USB-B as a printer cable. It's been used for just about everything in the past and these days is still used for larger peripherals that don't require anything more than USB 2 speeds, which is a lot of devices.

It would be great if the handbrake and shifter were compatible with all games on the Xbox, but I can't believe that WRC only supports the handbrake and not even the sequential shifter. Also, the indicators on the steering wheel don't work on the Xbox. It's better than the Logitec, which has fewer options, but it's a tough choice when compared to the Thrustmaster. I don't recommend buying this for the Xbox. I think it needs improvement.

Unfortunate that a lot of the big reviewers with the most diverse equipment don't have consoles or don't test the wheels much on them. For wheels like this it's probably fine but wheels that use adapters like the pxn ones probably perform differently on console and recognize the wheels as say a G29 so it'd be nice to actually have a 1 to 1 comparison/review of the console use case

I don't understand when people say an item is direct competition to something that is 2 or 3 times the price, in my book direct competition is similarly priced and also has similar features, the R3 is at least twice the price of the g29 and just over 1.5 times the price of the Thrustmaster TX Leather and 300Rs none of which is Direct Drive. Now if you had said that the r3 is a good step up to Direct drive from these other wheels that is relatively cheap, I would agree. 🙂

I'm thinking a new wheel to get into sim racing and I got two choices within my budget which are the Moza r3 and Cammus c5. I'm leaning more on the Moza side cuz it has more upgradability and it is a much better wheel brand. But the Cammus is cheaper and has a bit more ffb. However I'm not sure how long the c5 will last and start having issues as I've hread from many people. I think r3 is a better choice. What are your thoughts about these two wheels?

this is a long comment because i really am debating what to do in my case here, so if you're not willing to help don't bother reading it, and don't instantly reply about how long it is bla bla bla :) i've had my G29 for around 5 years at this point, i almost strictly use it entirely for ATS and ETS2. however after over 3000 hours in both titles combined, the downfalls of my g29 really kinda annoy me to some degree. 1. there seems to be some sort of "deadzone" in the center position that goes around 5 degrees to the left and 5 degrees to the right and while in this deadzone force feedback is significantly reduced as well as wheel tensions is absolutely absent in this center position deadzone - i'm not sure if this is a g29 issue or just a defact with my own unit but it has been like that ever since i got it. 2. after 3000 hours of using it, i still didn't really grow over the gearish feeling of the wheel turning - on one hand it does not really bother me, i mean it works! but on the other hand i couldn't help but wish it actually felt more realistic you know? 3. i've never really liked this when i got it, but i feel like the steering wheel diameter is just really small, when i look at other steering wheels they all seem bigger but in terms of measurements it seems almost all steering wheels are 28cm in diameter which visually does not make any sense to me? the thing is, it seems that Logitech built the G29 (or any of its predecessors: eg. G27, G25 etc.) like absolute unbreakable tanks lol. reliability has been nothing more than incredible for me with this wheel, while during the same time my friend had a thrustmaster t150 that got broken (like literally the plastics on the pedals broke), and a g920 that stopped working and he got free replacement thanks to warranty). but seeing how it HAS been 5 years since i got my G29 i couldn't help but wonder if there is anything out there that can reliably replace it or "upgrade" over it without feeling unrealistic or without being unreliable and unsupported in most titles. from my understanding after doing some research, all the craze of the sim racing community is direct drive wheels because of how instant their FFB and input registration is - however from what i read they don't feel as realistic to use like belt-driven wheels, especially for content like ATS/ETS2 and generally a DD wheel isn't that much recommended for use by the ATS/ETS2 community. and that's besides the fact that a good decent DD wheel base alone costs almost 500$ (Moza R9) and comes without the wheel itself or pedals or manual shifter. i also understood that almost all entry low price DD wheel bundles are pretty crap if you want to get into direct drive wheels. then there is belt-driven wheels, the pinnacle of them being the Thrustmaster TGT-II wheel and base combo + the Thrustmaster T-LCM +TH8A shifter. but that totals up to almost 1200$US - which is just around 100$ less than how much a Moza R9 V2 base + RS V2 wheel + CRP Pedals cost (nearly 1300$US). of course the cost of the Moza kit does not include the cost of adding the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter (which is around 200$US). then there is the reliability issues of all Thrustmaster products and in particular the TGT-II wheel which many people comment that it overheats or breaks easily? and then there is also the upcoming Hori truck control system which is also gear driven like the G29, but comes with a much bigger wheel size, what seems like a pretty good shifter with lots of buttons and really crappy plastic pedals - that kit is around 600$. however, Hori is pretty new to the whole upper market force feedback wheels and reliability with them is currently unknown - they have been producing cheap crappy mario kart rubber band wheels for the past decade and only started producing pc FFB wheels in the past 2-3 years so i wouldn't count that as any sort of long term experience, especially not for their more expensive stuff which reliability is literally unknown because i'm not really sure it sold that much. so, as you can read from everything i wrote up there i seriously don't know what route should i go with. i'm only going to use the wheel with ATS/ETS2 so i would prefer realistic feeling over instant FFB and input registration. but i don't want to break the bank here and i don't want to spend money only to find out i traded my reliability with a very unreliable product. most people would probably just tell me to stay with my g29 while the Hori wheel proves its reliability in a couple of months/years. but what do you think?

The fact that the Xbox chip in in the wheel, and the only xBox wheel that has the chip comes with the bundle in the bundle and can't be sold separately is a missed opportunity. It's not worth to buy the bundle to use the wheel on another base, and relining the base without the wheel will be nearly impossible.

I disagree, Thrustmaster literally focuses on making Simracing accessible for everyone so as we advance to their new era, the prices of Direct Drives only rockets and the belt driven only gets cheaper. Even with their "bad" quality their make everyone racing and we can only hope that this gigantic simracing company wakes up.
