Thanks this is great info. I haven't found Skyline to be very useful. I mainly play music on my phone to my Packtalk edge. I've found not pairing to the bike is simplier. But it pisses me off to not be using it, given how expensive the bike was. After watching your video I'm going to try Skyline OS for music again. :fingerscrossed

Give it a go! Happy to help troubleshoot if you run into issues. I think most CarPlay users are happy with it after the last update. I mostly just Bluetooth and use the built in features myself vs CarPlay. I tend to listed to local news radio on my way in to work and then stream a PodCast on the way home and the built in interface has been reliable. On the weekends I switch to speakers and just shuffle songs via the built in. I do like the information available on the screen but they could offer more. I don't hate the screen but I would like to see it better utilized by Harley.

Good info, I have a thumb drive with hundreds of songs. Is there an easy way to search/find a specific song when navigating through the HD MP3 menu? Seems pretty archaic to have to thumb down so many times to find an album or song.

You can find albums but not search for a specific song, you would tap left to browse. It only gives you major categories but album is one of them. It falls short for sure!

Winamp is a easy palyer and tool to make playlist. if you a playlist per album just save that playlist in that album map. H-D (Gt GTS and skypline) can al work with that

I keep it simple. I have about 800 mp3's on my flash drive and just set it to "Shuffle" so it randomly plays the songs in no specific order.

Yep agree, as long as you just have good songs each random pick should work! Just avoid those tracks that have an opening track and then a separate track for the actual song! LOL

My infotainment system completely quit last week. Just a black screen, at dealer and they are talking to head office trying to figure it out. So far nothing. So no music for me lol

You would need to use the app. Just searching it looks like the steps are: To make sure you always have music available-even on the go-turn on the offline mixtape on your mobile device: Open the KZbin Music app. Tap your profile picture. Tap Downloads . Tap Settings . Switch on Download an offline mixtape. If not let me know I will dig into it further...

Good information. I always have a thumb drive loaded with mp3 music when riding in the mountains where i can't stream music or have no radio reception.

If you want to do this and have no old cd's you can borrow them from a library and rip them to your computer. I just did this for my wife's bike to add music. She plays hers through an expanded memory card on her GPS through her speakers.

Good use of the public library. This is a great option for having tunes on demand with the least amount of technology.

I have a normal 16 gb usb stick with a converter to usb c full with music. My system is reading the stick but i cannot activate the usb input. Do you have any advice? ( europe version harley) Do i need a usb c stick?

You can use a USBA stick with a converter. Do you know how your 16gb was formatted, Fat or exFat works. Also what format are your songs? .mp3?

The format is FAT32 All the songs are mp3 I am getting the message: device is not responding.

Hmm, how many songs? Could be a indexing issue. On your computer if you view hidden files you might try deleting the system / index files and see. Really it should as you have it. Have you let it sit for a good period of time? Connect the drive and go a for a good 30 - 60 min ride. Curious if it ever connects.

It finally worked. I bought a new usb stick with a usb a and usb c connection. 64 gb. 1 song and it worked.

I have a 32GB thumb drive and have about 1,700 songs on it. Takes up about 6-7 GB of memory. Use the shuffle feature and I always have music I like. However sometimes it’s good to go to local radio just to get news/weather updates.

I have several thousand songs on my phone. Use Samsung music app to play music on my bike. Not one issue

Another option, after ripping your CD's to your computer, I believe you can link them to your Apple Music account. From there you'll be able to create and manage playlists, and then download or stream to your device. And of course, easy to access and use on Apple CarPlay while riding.

Correct, you can just leave them in your Apple Music library but you are still need your phone phone working but you are most correct this will work!

@@ITFZone yes, just an option to make playback less cumbersome with your own personal CD's that you ripped, especially for things like playlists or random shuffle. You can download for offline use while riding (and connect via Bluetooth or usb). You could download just a small playlist for a ride or more if you have the storage space.

Does the new skyline OS show song artwork, like the old Boom GTS does?

Yes it does when streaming from a phone. Its however very dim so really only in the dark!

@@paineys3341 Not from a memory stick unless there is an option to put this info with the songs on the stick. I have not tried with an internet connection, possibly it will pull. But either way its so dim you would only see it at night on this new system.

If that's true then this new Skyline os is lacking in lots of features compared to the old system. If I have added the artwork to an album on my Mac and then drag n drop it onto a memory stick and put it in the bike it plays perfectly showing song, artist, album and artwork

@@paineys3341 I have not tried to include the album art on my thumb drive but I suspect it would work however I can tell you the art is so dim that it is impossible to see in daylight, only at night can you see it and its still dim. I will try it out however to confirm.
