Coach thanks a ton for everything. Looking forward to reading your books! 🙌🏽 Another way of getting into 3-4 look is something we've been playing with and actually is dropping the middle safety in the box as the other ILB. So Sam and Will still play outside/overhang and the Middle safety, usually fitting the run from further back is at LB depth now... It's our "Box" 🥊adjustment Hope it helps ✌🏽

At 10:37 bench a LB and bring in a CB/DB and defend the 3rd we from the left with him! Then have the 3 safeties play cover 3 and the the 4 CB’s play man to man against the 4 WR’s!

I like using an athletic Lb/DE for my Sam for the base actually. But the bigger safety there has its benefits

Great video, coach. Quick question. What's your alignment for your corners?
@MatchQuarters4 жыл бұрын
Depends on coverage... Base around 6 yds inside shade

I'll have to do more research. I'm used to running a 425, and the run fits and read keys seem to be confusing me a bit. I'd love to do run my quarters scheme from the 404.

Great video, Coach! Do the trap corners simply read the QB,sit on outside routes by #2, and play hard outside in run run support vs the run? Do I have that wrong and/or am over simplifying? Thank you!
@MatchQuarters5 жыл бұрын
Play it like regular Trap. In most cases, this turns into Tampa 2. If the slot goes vertical, the CBs hinge and climb. If run, they keep going (force player).

Coach, how might a 3 down 3 safety dime defense handle 2 TE sets to the weak side vs run? Walk the weak side CB up to be the edge player, and turn him loose to turn the ball back inside bs outside run?

Yes. If you want to see a great example, watch ISU vs Memphis in their bowl game from a couple years back.

Coach, would you please explain what you mean when you say a defender will “cut” a receiver? Thanks for your consideration.
@MatchQuarters5 жыл бұрын
Work to the near hip off the next WR. The LB will CUT under any route.

Great video. Does it ever make sense to 2-gap the nose? Or do you feel like that prevents the ability to pinch on the inside?
@MatchQuarters6 жыл бұрын
The scheme is really designed to be 1-gap. Smart (UGA) talked about lagging the Nose which is similar. In a Lag technique the Nose fits behind the Center on a zone, but will try & cross if a G pulls.
@mathewmcdonnell85265 жыл бұрын
If your nose can do it that is a great way to play it. It allows the Will to play free as well. The will can attack inside on downhill action and fit your edge when the ball goes off tackle.

Coach for your next segment could you work on the volume, can barely hear ya. Also in your dime what is your option rule?
@MatchQuarters5 жыл бұрын
Weakside is where the issue is. You need to play it like a 3-4. OLB has QB, secondary force player has the pitch.
@allankot4 жыл бұрын
@@MatchQuarters what would you think if we'd like the QB to run the ball. OLB play pitch and have Middle Safety plus Secondary support coming down on him? Out thought process is if we get a chance to hit the QB, take it...

Could this formation line up as a 5-2 and work?
@MatchQuarters2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but your 2nd box 'backer would actually be your MS.
