30 years in the making. Let’s hope Takes It Tough isn’t another 30 years…

This book has been extremely helpful. It's attention to detail is what makes it special.

It’s a great book I started with the intention of going through it slowly from beginning to end, however it’s almost overwhelming so I took a break from it to read something else “new” and now need to discipline myself to get back to it. I do believe though it’s Richard Kaufman’s finest work and you wouldn’t catch me using it as a close up pad ! Great review Steve best wishes Andy

Thanks for another great review Steve as always. My copy is ordered. Looking forward to it. This one will be a lifetime of study I think.

Your impressions match mine. I have not read as much as you yet, but it is clear that this is an impressive and important magic text. Richard Kaufman must be extremely proud of this one.

Excellent and helpful review! Thanks for this. This tome looks like a real doorstopper, as they say. The sheer size and weight probably disqualifies it as a book you'll read in bed for fear that you'll nod off and give yourself a serious concussion. Similarly, I doubt it's very comfortable on the sofa and it limits you exclusively to table study. Is that safe to say?

Yeah totally 🤣. Thanks Craig 😊🙏

Thorough and excellent review about a valuable resource. Where I differ is that I think that although the teaching of sleights is excellent, the effects or exercises offered leave something to be desired. I feel that many of the effects do not have that "gee whiz" ending that many of us seek in a published work. Also I think the trick instructions can be ambiguous at times, although this could be a matter of my lack of professional experience. However, I am still very glad to have bought it.

Hey thaks Ted. I agree that some of the effects are more for the context of sleight rather than stand-alone strong tricks. Really appreciate your input. Have a brilliant weekend.

Hi Steve - thanks for this review. Please could you elaborate a bit on the difficulties you found with ‘The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings’? I have very recently purchased the eBook but haven’t really delved into it properly yet. Just curious to hear your opinion about it.

Jamy Ian Swiss says the book is poorly written and disrespects the Jennings reputation.

Excellent Plan. Trick review easy, book review hard. Point to who would benefit from the text. If a book is full of gold, just pointing at a few nugget, really, is all a review can hope to accomplish. Does this book go on your shelf?

What do u think Steve, this book or Revelation by Dai Vernon?
@RealMagicReview3 жыл бұрын
Ooh very difficult one. Revelation if you want to geek out on details of classic shuffles etc. This maybe for all-round learning. But they're really different books.

To those of you who have this book: How does it compare to the entire Card College series of books?
@RealMagicReview3 жыл бұрын
Hey David. For me, this is not a complete beginner's book. As it takes a deep dive into individual details, the Card College books are way better for complete beginners to work through. I feel like they compliment each other well. But for me, the card college books are better for an all-round learning experience.

Great book...great for decent effects ....and I find that going over basics is very useful as doing it properly from the start it makes a massive difference it really does ..
