What my hope is about the rumors is that NRS got sick of people leaking stuff about the game, say they came up with the plan to say that NRS is no longer supporting the game, if they were that this is the list of characters that was going to be on the DLC, and waited for the news and those lists to come out to finally figure out who has been doing the leaking. I think this because 2 or 3 leakers were a 100% track record has all come out with different lists, so something is wrong with their info line. I do wish that NRS would come out and say something though.

The only criticisms I agree with are that development was rushed and certain features should've been available day 1. Other than that mk1 is fundamentally superior to mk11 and its obvious. We couldn't even meaty or anti air consistently in 11, jailing into highs didn't exist for a long time in 11. Mk1s problems competitively come from character balance whereas the other big games issues stem from core mechanics that over shadow fundamental gameplay like heat and drive rush. things that aren't fixable without having a new game. NRS did good work that got bottlenecked by WBs poor management.

You make good points but the main issue is that the MK Community has been very disingenuous on wanting fair gameplay for characters. Most of the time a lot of people who are dumb casuals will push for broken meta and make the game worse to cheat to win. If that was killed off the game along with massively nerfing the whole mk1 roster the game would be better.

Mk11 was my first MK so I don’t really have a reference point for any others before it. It was alright to me but MK1 definitely is a step up. The only thing I think Mk11 did better was the balancing of characters.

Maybe balanced wasn’t the best term but basically I mean there was a more diverse group of characters that could be deemed over the top. I dont need any DLCs. I just need to know that NRS will be there for balance changes, fixes etc.... We keep asking for more and we always discuss things about what's coming, wishlist but never, never about what to do with what already have. So... me... i support this game by playing it. Oh, thanks dude! I just got to the end to the video. I wish we could do online practice. It's silly we still can't do that. I'm always happy to run some sets, though. I'm not always available, but weekends tend to be better with my current schedule for playing online. In regards to this topic, MK1 is not dead. I understand the grievances people have with the game, in regards to the monetization, the lack of content, or even certain gameplay concerns. However, I still feel the desire to get back in and learn characters, and I haven't wanted to do that since MKX. I think the bigger reason people just call the game "dead" is the lack of options in game. If you want to play online and get better, and that's all you care about, then you'll have a great time with the game. The lack of single player and online content really hurt the game more than any gameplay issues have, in my opinion. There should be good netcode, good online lobbies, and online practice modes. There should also be other options for single player besides the story and a grindy invasions/towers of time mode. As for gameplay, all I really want is a 10% to 15% speed increase (mostly to strings, maybe to movement) and for base roster characters to have a lot more strings, like the DLC characters after Omni Man. I also think Kameos should remain a side option, like tag mode in MK9.

Yeah, I'm really discovering the depths to which people fail to lab in this game. There's so much cool shit that specific teams can do, but people don't bother to dig for it - they'd rather copy something that is established already. But hell yeah, I do quite like Kameos and find that they have really fixed the lack-of-depth problem that MK11 had.

The reason why this game is done is the same reason why development is done, no one liked it, it got to the point where people literally stopped buying it so the publisher pulled the plug. There is no future for a game when this happens so early in its life and development. Sure, people can try and have it limp on, but limp is all it will do.

Yes, there was a vocal contingency of people that didn't like it - but the overwhelming majority of them are casual players that merely didn't like Kameos or were put off by a lack of content. Everyone else has mostly enjoyed the gameplay besides the top-tier meta, which as you are well aware, has existed in literally every FG ever. Smash Bros Melee never got any patches at all, and people still play that game merely because they want to, even though we're on the fifth Smash game. As long as people still play and compete in it - as well as leave comments about it - MK1 is not dead.

Imo depending on how mk1 finishes it's lifecycle however it's not uncommon to see games like no Man's sky, halo, and battlefield flop VERY early on in their lifespan, and have resurrection. Even something like EVOLVE had a second lifespan even if short-lived. Even payday 3 players are still fighting to have their game improve. Even recently we have seen massive waves of support for Umvc3 with pallet swaps tournaments. Unfortunately now we have a community where the developers, and player side are complacent with the 2 year cycle but never fully satisfied. Even though this is the socially unpopular opinion cause I guess saying this makes me a "toxic positive shill" Id actually want to say I love mk1, and want further development. I think inj3 would be a mistake, and runs the risk of the same issues. there's no guarantee further development actually would save Mk1. I still have MANY gripes with the game like the current season being a rehash, no krypt, test your luck, limited cosmetics, Kameos costing, story mode costing, koth feels unfinished, experimental 1v1 mode, shop prices, and a handful of balance changes.

The fgc has a habit of trying to speak for the entire playerbase when they only represent 1% of them. If a game doesn't agree with their esports mentality then it's automatically a dead game to them. Unfortunately normal people don't make content on video games so the fgc voice is way louder on the internet than it is in reality. I didn't even know half of these guys existed before the last few years and most of my friends irl still don't know they exist. I'm the only one out of my irl friend group that even knows about the whole "MK1 is dead" narrative so when we sit and play or talk they haven't been tainted by popular internet opinions and we treat the game like any other game. Don't believe the basement dweller fgc types because they are so out of touch with reality that they call normal people "casuals" constantly and treat them like idiots just because they don't take video games seriously competitvely. "You don't dedicate your time to learn frame data so you must be a mentally challenged button masher" is the way they look at the other 99% of the playerbase, it's hilarious. They always have a take on the internet that just doesn't match what I hear irl from ppl that aren't into competitive gaming. It's like they forgot competitive gaming is still VERY niche just because they live in the fgc bubble. This game will live, ifk about dev support but it definitely isn't "dead".
