Does no one watch the video? It says he's from Michigan and that Michigan includes defense of others under self-defense. Likewise, a box cutter is definitely deadly force. The only question is whether they try to pin him for firing that last round as unnecessary. Anyone who actually knows anything about lethal force knows edged weapons can be much more devastating than a firearm and the rate at which you can close with a knife is a lot faster than most people are aware. Put another way - a knife wielding assailant is no joke. It's fortunate that Michigan has "defense of others" in their law. Hope the gentleman was able to get the beer for free.

@@Cha-Khia the few times I’ve requested the services of law enforcement, turned out to be a complete waste of time. I decided over a decade ago, that I will never again have a reason to talk to cops. They almost never improve a situation and the potential for it to get worse increases exponentially. Just think how things in Uvalde, TX would have gone if a few armed parents were called, instead of a bunch of professional cowards.

Great observation about one handed shooting - and shutting up! I think the customer was so focused on the fact that he had decided to intervene that he forgot he had the beer in his hand. In other words, his mind is so focused on the fact that the clerk was under attack and processing what to do, that his mind totally dismissed anything else around him, including the beer. It's almost always best to shoot with two hands, but sometimes the way we handle stress may prevent that.
