I watched this video, and a few others and purchased a 2024 Breakout in pearl white without riding it. I have since gotten my motorcycle license and LOVE the Breakout. Added a swing arm bag, heated grips, all LED lighting and some pipes and I now own my dream bike. Originally, I was looking at the T-120. (I wanted a classic cruiser). You perfectly described the handling and stability of the bike. And of course, the torque is off the chart. Appreciate your channel.

Mid August I walked into a Harley dealer simply because I was bored. They had this exact same bike and I took it for a spin. Returned to the dealer and bought it on the spot. Already bumped it up to Stage II. She’s a beast. Very planted and hot off the line.

@@MrDarcy-OlMan & BinBin .... I have the LEICA M10-P *White* Limited Edition + 50mm f/1.4 Summilux Lens, since January 2020, but yet to own a Harley, and I love the Breakout-117 ... wish it was available in my country, India. Though, the Fat Boy 114 is in our local HD showroom. I bought 4 new bikes in 30 months : KTM 390 Duke (2020) Triumph Trident 660 (2021) Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 3 (2022) Ducati XDiavel 1262cc V2 (cruiser, 2023) my next bike could be an Adv. (Africa Twin) or the BMW R-nine-T i agree, Breakout is the Leica of Motorcycles, a Mechanical Masterpiece, you stole my heart with that statement. Thanks.

That engine sound and pipe music is intoxicating.I had a old VFR800 gear driven engine no cam chain and that sounded amazing.HD reminds me of that bike.I am 59 and to me at this point in life riding is not about going point A to B.You can do that even on a moped but its about the experience of being Alive! and that is worth buying!

Great review, guys! I understand your point about just road, man and machine. I have that with one of machines. That being said, I like the new technology, performance and safety features of the modern bikes. We're living in 2023, not 1973, and I appreciate the technology advances that have been made and like those incorporated into my machines. To each his own.

What a brilliant idea, putting the bike's name on the tank so I can remember what's it's called in a pinch! From your crank tq figure, the bike makes 82 hp @ 3500 rpm. The old two valve HDs would have been suffocating in another 500 rpm. That this one runs up to 100+hp at over 5k rpm is the genius of putting a 4 valve head on the M8s. They should publicly thank Victory for giving them that encouragement. Far superior power plants these days. My 107 RK does 40+ mpg US. Your UK gallon is 20% bigger, so that would be ~48 mpg UK. The fact that this bike is considerably lighter and more aerodynamic than my tourer with a barn door windscreen, makes 50 mpg UK seem on point. That's a ~41 mpg US. Rejoice, if your Streetbob gets 42 mpg US, you still win! With all that chrome, I'd go with the black one for the most striking contrast. Personally, I find black paint on HD engines to be heresy. That beautiful, uncluttered jewel of an engine should be prominent IMHO. OTOH, putting so much chrome behind it in that faux oil tank covers and fender brackets is a little overkill to my eye. I liked the way the last gen Breakout blacked those pieces to keep the eye drawn to that engine. I'd also toss that air cleaner for an oval one. I'd get tired of knocking knees with that thing pretty quick. I think the bike is way too cool for me though. My HD get ridden like a tank through the rain, salt, and road crap. Fenders already rusting. Doesn't matter, I'm not likely to get rid of it until I'm too weak to move it. Too comfy and practical. I think this one looks tits, but I'd have to treat it like a Fabergé egg. And given that I ride around in textile gear, I just wouldn't lend it the cool factor it deserves. The old man in the old skool biker jacket looks fabulous on it however.

I wasn't designed properly at the factory those so many years ago for this type riding position. The further back my feet are, the longer I can ride. My rule of thumb is : "The upright nerdier you look, the more comfortable you'll be in the long run" I have a FXDP & the position isn't too dissimilar to the Breakout. Had a Ninja 1000 R & suffered from carpel tunnel syn. in both hands (It goes away on it's own if one stops doing 3hr handlebar push ups) Also had a Suzuki GT500T which put you in a riding position like a plastic toy cyclist ; Knees a little lower than hips, arms slightly bent, back straight. For me the best. If I were sensible my next ride would be a adventure bike or Triumph style but one never learns. The R18 is just too beautiful.

They did a good job on this bike, especially that they chromed it all out. I also prefer analog dials. In theory, you could take a Fat Boy tank with the analog dial, and get a paintjob done on it. I would mod it out properly if I had it, with chopped fender etc.

Hi 👋, I forgot to mention I was on a 500cc motorbike when I was 10 years old, Most of the guys in the village had motorcross bikes, how old vintage motorbikes that they have acquired from my fathers, And I passed my test just after I was 17 years old, I’ve passed my test on a Suzuki 250, and in less than four months, I changed it to a Norton commando, 750. I’ve had 3 Nortons, one very old dominator which was chopped, and two Bonnevilles, then in the early 90s, I started off with a 1200 sportster HD , FXR 1340 , SOFTAIL DEUCE 1999 1450- 1550 . I think they have made it more like the CVO Pro Street Breakout from 2016, which is no bad thing in my opinion (as I own one lol). The Breakout is great, people seem to be a bit intimidated by them with the chopper type rake, but other than the ground clearance(on mine, scraped heels on the boots) they are really easy to ride, steering feels heavy to start with at low speed but you get used to it (the front wheel on the Pro Street is smaller I think, which may contribute to that also). I think the analogue dial on the Pro Street is better than the digital one on the bars on the new one (my opinion, and something mentioned in this review). Glad they sorted the tank capacity and the cruise control (both on the Pro Street). I saw a new one in the showroom and thought it looked fantastic. Great review of a great bike. (Swapping the R18????, Breakout be great in Spain!). The exhaust on my PRO Street is standard and sounds amazing, get an advisory on MOT every time even though it is standard. Still wakes the neighbors lol (they love it too!).

I suspect that in a world where everybody with a phone believes they are a photographer, many will not get your Leica reference. As a photographer I'm a Canon man myself with an old 5D MKII which I've owned for going on 12-13 years, but which you can still buy new for, as you said, a third the price of a new Leica M 262. Objectively, the old Canon does everything the new Leica does and perhaps a bit more (higher ISO and full-frame sensor), but for pure tactile delight nothing beats a Leica, just like no cruiser beats a Harley-Davidson in feelings and sensations. And this is coming from a Moto-Guzzi owner.

With that rake and fat rear you would expect it to be very stable. There is always a trade off when it comes to handling. For me this is not a good “handling” bike on any measure but it is a good cruiser. I get the subjective point but I’d say handljng is always about agility and nimbleness, turn in etc. This is a bike for the long straight roads and that rake and trail perfect for. Comfort then more a product of suspension travel and preload. I enjoy my British b roads a bit too much for this but it’s a cracking machine in its own right if a little too ‘Murica for me. I agree re the attraction of the analogue .. and another top notch if slightly partisan review *but I can’t blame you for that. 😊 All the best for the house move old boy. 👋

My problem now is deciding between the Breakout and the Low-rider ST. Not sure how many rides will be over the 3-4 hour mark at one time but after riding both, the Lowrider has better suspension and better wind protection but the Breakout looks so amazing. I think that is a very good looking motorcycle, it’s silly money of course, I bought a Scrambler 800 in 2015, whilst I was with the salesman I caught a glimpse of his screen, it said “unit price £4250”, I paid £7036 OTR, I’m not sure but I think the 4250 was what the bike cost the dealer from Ducati, now obviously that Harley would cost more to make than a scrambler 800,but how much more?, double, let’s be generous and say it cost 18k for Harley to build (I very much doubt it did!), they are taking the piss at £24000 aren’t they?

That we are, but we have Triumph's to take up the slack, and the 2.4 litre is £2-3K cheaper.

I think it’s difficult to say that a brand new bike is the best. Is it still the best after years of riding through rain and dirt? Parked on the street all year long with only a cover on it? Surely I like to have a Harley like that, but since I don’t have a garage, I think I have to stick to my trusty dirty BMW R100R which I ride since 1995. It maybe looks rusty but for daily commuting and holiday trips to France and Spain it’s the best for me.

It looks stunning, like a Rolls Royce. My only fear is that, having seen most models of 2 or 3 year old Harley’s for sale at a coastal dealer in Wales, the chrome is not particularly resilient. Covered in white spots and patches of corrosion over the forks, wheels and handlebar. I think you’d have to keep it to a May to October bike for that reason which suits many of us. I like your comparison with Leica. I have two old M3 film cameras and they’re worth £2k each. I also use a Canon EOS with five lenses, but nothing beats that old analogue Leica for someone who knows how to use it. Takes a tonne of practise.

That is a beautiful bike. I think at 5'4" I'd only be able to ride it in a straight line, I'd never get it round the corners. If someone picked me up on that, fairly easy to do, I'd need a sissy bar or I'd come off the back. Lovely looking bike though.

Not for those weekend adventure bikers with their tupperware panels and sat navs just incase they get lost 50 miles from home.

I'm surprised to hear that you found that the rear wheel tire tends to follow lines in the road. I would have expect the very opposite. In my experience it is usually narrow tires that follow lines in the road.

I Like the wheels on the new Breakout, better than my Agressor wheels on my Black 2016 Pro Street. I've had it 3 years now and still deciding on what to do with the wheels. I originally thought the Lyndall B-52 wheels in black was the way I was going, and I have purchased the Black bowtie B-52 rotors. I'm now thinking of changing the front to chrome and buying the Harley Chrome turbine wheel for the rear- she's a hot rod, and the front wheels don't have to match the back ones, like on GASSER'S. The Breakout is a GASSER. Fat tire in back skinny one up front. I think black rotors on chrome wheels will look killer. After 3 years, I think I'm done thinking about the wheels. I love the Harley Turbine wheel and it may look even better when surrounded by BLACK. I have plans of blacking out the lower forks with a custom made leather boot engraved with CVO, and blacking out all the fasteners, to make the chrome wheels pop like a 40 year old virgin.

The one I've been waiting for. I loved the 114 so much and want to see what you think of the new one. Also that bloke rubbernecking around the 3 minutes mark, I don't get that on my Kawasaki😂.

The US gallon is smaller than the UK gallon, that's the reason for the difference in mpg. Great video.
