Why Are Other Musicians are Getting Gigs -And You Are Not

Let’s face it it is hard to get solo acoustic gigs when you are just starting out. Why is it that some are more successful than others? Often times it has nothing to do with your musical ability but what you are NOT doing that others are.
I have been playing solo acoustic gigs full time for over 20 years. I am going to share some thoughts on the subject of getting solo acoustic gigs.

Agree 100 percent. Go there, support their business (you want them to support yours). Open mics are great for networking, you can make connections with gigging musicians who can turn you onto other venues that you may not know about. Professional Polite Persistence.

Gig salad and the bash a very very very competitive thumbtack is the best one for me however it's the most expensive.

I agree. I used to do very well on the bash when it was gigmasters but have seen it fall off recently

A few years ago sending emails with somewhat of a good idea to get gigs. Now, sending an email even with an attachment to me is a total waste of time. I estimate for every 40 emails sent I get one reply. As you mentioned they are inundated with people trying to get in to the venue for a gig. Visiting the venue was difficult to but it's the only way to go. Personally I've never had luck at open mic nights getting gigs however I have met of the musicians who give me insight.

I often come to the issue where I'll have a great conversation with them over the phone where I can chat about what `I do but they ALWAYS say send an email with more info/vids/links and when I do I get ghosted thereon..

That’s a tough one. Try not to take it personally. It’s hard not to believe me I know. Also try to make sure that your vids and links fit the type of vibe that the place usually books.
