This is something that's implicit in that meaning, Max is being bad faith when he misrepresents the statement as its literal meaning and hence accuses Destiny of misrepresenting or straw manning his own argument. Language doesn't work that way and you have to have the skills to interpret language as metaphorical or literal when the respective context is appropriate. The only criticism I had of Destiny was simply wasting the argument against the wrongful use of Nazi on arguments against Nick Hard to believe that isn't the position he's taking, honestly. That where he shouldn't even bother making the argument in that specific case. Knowing when the argument is just going to fall of deaf ears is something he's typically good at identifying. Max's biggest issue was relying too much on the framing of turning Destiny's viewers into Nazis. It really just went to show a deep misunderstanding of the demographics that his audience is comprised of. I would bet money that less than .05% of Destiny's viewers, if any at all, could be swayed towards favoring Nick's positions in any way. Even if that point was conceded for the sake of argument, I would bet that exponentially more of Nick's audience is becoming more favorable to Destiny's perspective, and the trade-off is pretty clearly worth it. And in the argument of cops shooting vs civilians, there is so much more nuance to unpack than Max gave recognition to.

Destiny gets confused about why Mr Girl is going off into some bull. Mr Girl realizes he is coming off as blatantly bad faith and drops the act. At no point between the first and second time he asked the question, and at no point during Mr Girls performance, did Destiny ever expand on what he originally said, rephrase it, or anything similar. Nothing in that time span advanced the conversation in any way shape or form, it was just a question, followed by evasion by Mr Girl, followed by confusion about the evasion from Destiny, and then Destiny just takes the conversation directly backwards and asks the exact same question again. Nothing about the question is ever clarified or explained further, there's no additional context being applied, it is literally the exact same question. Max was absolutely insisting that Destiny _use_ the word Nazi, and it was a huge lie when he tried to pretend he wasn't. That's what Destiny accused him of. He never accused him of insisting that he _call_ someone that word, nor did he accuse him of insisting that he _agree_ that someone _was_ a Nazi, but by insisting that he formulate a definition and stake out a claim on whether he _was_ a Nazi, he was insisting that the word be used, whether in the affirmative or in the negative. The entire criticism is of Destiny's avoidance of the word altogether, which is a criticism Destiny disagrees with, because in his view, using the word, regardless of whether you're using it affirmatively ("he IS a Nazi") or negatively ("he is NOT a Nazi") is not effective, and only serves to obfuscate the person's actual views.

I think Max thinks that because him and Steven have a similar definition of Nazi, not getting a direct answer to “does X person fit the category of Nazi?” Feels like a weasel. While Steven wishes to answer in a wholistic way that addresses why Max’s question only allows for one use of the word, Max thinks it doesn’t matter because “It’s me. WE are having the conversation, Steven. Language is actually pretty straightforward. The problem arises when people use words colloquially, which constitutes most of internet discussion. If you are speaking casually to convey a thumbnail sketch of a broad picture, you are okay with the finer details getting lost in the weeds. Another thing, most people don't concern themselves with a broader vocabulary and what's more, it seems to be frowned up for people to use "big words" which again is a thumbnail description. Even "esoteric" or "dated" or "archaic" Would normally better describe " big words. Words have meaning. Either identity the type of discussion you are having with someone and speak accordingly or don't and be ready to have the goal posts moved. As for "what is a woman" ? That is fairly straightforward. To act like characteristics shared by a vast majority of women negates the fact that they are woman, or to shoe-horn other people that don't share the characteristics of a majority of the collective, is disingenuous at best, and an abuse of language at worst. People act like assuming the sex of someone based on their looks, and voice isn't effective over 99% of the time. It's like justice Scalia colloquially said in regards to not being able to clearly define "porn" "I know it when I see it" I think if everyone was honest, things would be much simpler.
