When Destiny says he enjoys the sport of all of this I believe him. And over the years he's navigated the circumstances that such an attitude has yielded really well. He's built a career out of performing verbal duals against increasingly sharper swords and coming out on top. However if this situation has indicated anything, it's that this approach will continue to produce sharper and more adept adversaries for Destiny to best. And eventually he'll fall. It's a compelling story, that's made even more interesting by the fact he's got a girl's name.

Overall I think this season really shows what Destiny is capable of when surrounded by a good cast. However, the inclusion of MrGirl always felt a bit off. You could tell he's not an experienced actor (the dead stares really don't highlight his emotional range) and he's basically been given plot armor for the whole season. It also feels very unrealistic that he still retained his orbiters even after his Bridge Burn arc which maybe there is more context for but the writers didn't really show it. Aba is still a great addition to the plot and is imo deserving of a spin-off at some point.

Thank you for saying this. I've been completely mindfucked by people like Smeth in my personal life. As a kid, I was seriously emotionally abused by my father. He weilded people like Smeth to create confusion and cover for what he was doing. It was always to his advantage that there were "two sides to every story." While that's true in some context, it's not true in matters of fact. There was unambiguous abuse going on in my house but the confusion these people sewed in my life kept me trapped there, unable to advocate for myself. I had to be exposed to average people to see how warped my reality had become, and finally break free. Please, to anyone who ignorantly navigates dynamics like this, don't insert yourself into serious stuff like conversations on abuse. There will never be some sort of need for you to, "hammer out the ethics" of someone else's shit. If an abuser is smart enough, you'll just become a tool to discourage the victim.

Anyone with a brain can see this isn’t a case of personal perspective, or max thinking he is doing the right thing. This is 100 percent the case of mr girl doing whatever he can to attack destiny. Honestly ask yourself how many “swords” does mr girl have to tear through before people realize he is not honestly investigating anything, and that he is just trying to attack destiny. The funniest part of all this is this thing he was upset with destiny over initially was destiny major political project he had been working in for over a year if not years. If mr girl was half as smart as he claims he would have recognize how major a deal it was for destiny to drop his major political project for him. Now you could argue destiny didn’t drop it for mr girl, but did it in principle, but destiny knows how these people are, and then doing this type of stuff destiny knew before starting his project. He wasn’t doing the project for a handful of leaders in the community, but for the community as a whole. He dropped the project because it was impossible to keep doing the project with max as a friend.

That's stupid. The ability for introspection and reflecting on actions need to be paired with success and not failure. I'd be better to just tell people exactly what they are missing. I did what you said and it was 8 months of wasted false improvement. It would have been better if people just told me what I was doing wrong and then I try it out. People act not because it's right, but for success. If the means for it are bad or changes, it'll be harder to adapt If you ignore how and why it failed. And successful bad people ignore a lot.

What people have to understand about people like Mr Girl is that they love taunting you. They love dangling exactly what they are in your face and still being able to deny it. That's always been his game. This guy actually released a video of him with his girlfriend, talking about sex, and said "You have to have sex with me". He said "You have to" more than once. And then he gives himself the get out clause of "Well, what I mean is you have to in order to continue this relationship" to completely reframe the thing we all know he's saying - that he's got her wrapped around his finger and she'll do what he wants. The conversation was about how he wants to have sex with her and "not care about how she feels". This is emblematic of every Mr Girl story ever. That's not even mentioning where he reduced her to tears and then smiled at the camera. What's happening now is why I've always despised the guy and why I've felt to gaslit by anyone trying to defend him.
@Altitudes Жыл бұрын
@@fredjenner Partly the tactic is that by admitting everything, saying everything, they can never be dishonest. They can just say you didn't understand them. It's a great technique. Don't deny anything, just offer an interpretation in which you're not the bad guy and everyone around you is wrong and should feel guilty for not understanding you. This is actually so effective people will start doing it for you. Which is the position Destiny got in. He'd charitably reinterpret the most bizarre things and Mr Girl could lap it up. Thing is, it's not easy, and Mr Girl is really good at it, but it's actually not that hard to manipulate people. We've all told lies and got away with it. We've all convinced someone to get our own way. The hard part is lacking enough empathy to keep doing it constantly. It's why so many people get away with having affairs - because they're motivated enough by the affair to keep the lies and manipulation going even if the cheating is tearing them up inside. But people like Mr Girl, they don't need the incentive of an affair, they're just broken enough that they feed off the act. They love manipulating people and so it's easy for them to maintain.

I think it’s worth pointing out to people that max is most likely a vulnerable narcissist. Just get on stream and read out some information about them and show some examples of max fits that definition perfectly. Also vulnerable narcissists are some of the most difficult ones to pin down unless you know what you’re looking for. They tend to do a much better job of hiding their narcissistic tendencies and maladaptive behaviors behind a veneer of victimization and fake empathy. My dad is one and it took my family years to figure it out. That man will make you feel so loved and special and turn around and screw you over in two seconds if he wants to. Every time he will find a way to justify it in his head. Like he somehow found a way to blame me for our relationship falling apart when I was freaking 12 years old. He really believes all his lies and bs too. The first conversation I watched of you talking to max I was spamming the comments with all the red flags for vulnerable narcissism I saw in him.

It's easy for us on the outside to judge Steven for not being able to see the obvious nature of things. We need to remember that when you're the one in it sometimes it's very difficult to see the forest for all the trees. Since Steven now finally seems to have made it out of the woods I hope those closest to him will be there to support him and tell him it's okay, we're here for you - it's time to accept that Destiny, quite clearly, is a girl's name.

I would understand this for MrGirl maybe. Since he's so good at twisting and manipulating narratives and discussions. I found MrGirl just a few weeks before he came into destinýs orbit and I kinda liked his content. What little I'd seen. The more I saw, the less i liked. It felt like he was just trying to hammer nuance into things where it wasn't necessary. And then even with destiny, like he says all the time, destiny was like a translator for mrgirl. I never really needed translations. I understood what he was tryini to say nd still thought he was weird for focusing on that kind of content. But I would still understand why destiny would be blindsided by him, to an extent. Fucking lav though. Why he pretends and still defends calling her "intelligent" is beyond me. Flipflopping through points, then resorting to emotional appeals when cornered aren't signs of intelligence. That's a grown child. But destiny presents it like "well no one can pin her down on her stances and she still escapes getting cornered, nd she runs circles around everyone on these panels ". Literally no. All she does is cry and call herself a child or autistic or interpersonally challenged. Yea I don't see why destiny didn't see that coming at all or defended her even a little bit at all.

Theory: Mr Gaslight - I mean, Mr Girl stated in previous initial videos, "I want us (Destiny and I) to be close friends," and even though Destiny said, "no, that's not how this works (paraphrase)," Mr Gas-Girl took the followup engagements with Destiny as getting what he wanted as stated: his own "best friend." Then, when Lav entered the picture, it appeared that Mr G developed some kind of feelings towards her so when it became public knowledge D and Lav hooked up, that's when he started his whole, "You were supposed to be MY best friend D! How could you hurt me like that by tainting the object of my desire (hooking up w girl I have feels for and now am plagued w the idea of that hook up anytime she's around)?!?!" Ensue narcissistic response of, "that which hurts me must be destroyed! I must appear (to myself) as more powerful than D to justify any further feels for Lav not being tainted anymore going forward!" It has a similar feel to the way ghosting triggered a response, but from within the Madonna/Wh0re complex some guys tend to develop. It's just a theory based on how the tone of Mr G changed as information was released and I've watched a few close friendships be destroyed due to a girl for this exact relationship, so my theory could be and probably is totally biased, but that's how this drama-arc appears to me. If nothing else, what I'm gaining from watching this entire event unfold is definitely making the events in my past make more sense as I apply to hindsight and for that, I'm appreciative that I'm able to reflect from what I'm observing here to learn more about the dynamics of people. Theory #2: Mr G has nuked himself to all but his most adherent fans, but this tantrum he's throwing will be used later down the line by those who only catch cliffnotes from bad perspectives that are actively trying to bring down D. I admire the adherence to facts for the sake of truth and feel that the day anyone snuffs out the light Destiny stands amongst will be a very dark day indeed.

Imagine being a Mr.Girl Orbiter
@AlGhoul Жыл бұрын
1:27:29 Okay, the difference between effective fake empathy and actual empathy is what empathy actually means, that both of these two seem to not understand. Empathy is not the ability to imagine what someone else is feeling, as the "orbiter" defined it, nor Destiny's addendum of actually being correct. Sympathy is the ability to identify (perception and understanding of, and reaction to) the emotions of another. That would be more aligned with "imagining what someone else is feeling, and being correct", with the addendum being a necessary component. Empathy, however, is the ability to feel what another is feeling from their perspective (wikipedia says "Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within their frame of reference, that is, the capacity to place oneself in another's position", and google defines, via Oxford languages, empathy as understanding and sharing the feelings of another). So the difference between fake empathy that is effective, meaning fake empathy that convinces other people that you're actually feeling the emotion they're feeling even though you aren't, and actual empathy is the feeling part of actual empathy, and thus also the deception part of the fake empathy. And I do mean deception, not just unintentional misleading, because you have to attempt to convince the other person that you're actually feeling their emotions, and when you aren't feeling those emotions, it requires that one attempt a performative and persuasive endeavor rather than just feeling the emotion with them. I concede that the other person being convinced isn't exactly a conscious effort on their part, but the deception on the "fake empath's" part does require a conscious effort in order for it to be believable, and thus "effective". It's "masking", and sociopaths learn to do this during mid childhood (and when they don't, they're usually men [because women sociopaths learn much faster the value of masking due to generally weaker physical forms], and they get caught because they don't feel like they need to mask their sociopathy, and society detects them pretty easily; those that do mask but still pursue their violent tendencies get caught due to arrogance and ineffective masking). And to stem off confusion, narcissists also lack empathy, just like sociopaths lack empathy, but their markedly distinct as sociopaths tend more extreme line crossing (violence being the stereotype) as they have a more complete disregard for others and even consequences of their actions, whereas narcissists understand where the line is and avoid crossing due to the consequences. Destiny is asserting narcissism, and that was my first impression of him, too. (Well, that's not accurate; I thought he was egotistical, which is between egocentrism and narcissism, whereby each one includes the proceeding attribute in addition to other defining traits.) Can't believe I'm explaining to 30+ year olds what empathy is. Can't believe I would even need to. Also, if you weren't sure, why the hell aren't either of you looking it up? Also, the "orbiter" said "imagining what another person is feeling" is a close match to the definition of empathy, which demonstrates he didn't look it up when MrGirl originally expressed his interpreted definition of empathy. (Also also also, haha, it's amusing that MrGirl of all people, given his behavior, couldn't accurately define empathy...it's virtually cliche.)

I understand that this guy is trying to be impartial, but he's actually not. By putting Max's and destiny's points on equal ground in terms of both morality and even believability he's actually tipping the scale in Max's favor. If we just take every claim that can't be proven or disproven and hold them as equal than we would have to believe all sorts of absurd stuff. He did make one decent point though and it's that there could be a valuable conversation derived from this. I don't doubt that destiny navigates sexual situations with his colleagues well. Instead of defending himself from Max, he could actually tell everybody how he navigates these situations in these settings. If anything it sounds like he probably has great advice on how to approach consent. I know that he's had these conversations a million times, but there are always new people coming in and the nuances of consent free from partisan politics can actually be hard to find good content on

I respect Destiny for being open to supporting smaller creators of all types. I think it’s super cool that he’s able to talk to whoever rather than just picking certain people or groups to associate with. I feel like MrGirl wiggled into Destiny’s personal life and although Destiny felt he was being manipulative in some circumstances, he gave MrGirl the benefit of the doubt. I still remember the convos where MrGirl wanted Destiny to be closer to him, to trust him more. It sucks that when he does open up to someone, it turned out this way. MrGirl basically manipulated himself into Destiny’s life and now is narcissistically trying to be god and remove Destiny entirely. MrGirl sees this as a personal mission and he’s so freaking delusional and stuck in his own mental framework. Lav, to me, is just a young girl who needs/seeks a father figure and at first found that in Destiny who gave her advice and tried to help her and later found it in MrGirl who likes her emotional outbursts and encourages her inconsistency. I also think she needs a new therapist because her current one isn’t helping her. Ana is a sad case, I feel most for her. She’s obviously having a bad time with her mental health and she has a tendency to spiral into emotional states when she is pushed into them. I think MrGirl triggered Ana into spiraling against Destiny by talking to her about all this and she took it and ran. I do think these people need to find people outside the internet that can help them change their behavior. For Destiny, a lot of people are saying that he shouldn’t have sex with his orbiters, or orbiters like Ana and Lav specifically, but honestly, they are all adults jfc. While MrGirl sees those advances as “worker abuse”, Lav and Ana had the choice to leave the relationship and actively pursued these relationships with Destiny. Lav started her relationship with Destiny too. They have agency and everyone automatically faults Destiny for some reason when all his actions were consensual and there isn’t any evidence to prove that they weren’t consensual. You can’t wield mental health as a lack of agency or consent. People with mental issues have sex and are able to consent. TLDR: MrGirl is a narcissist and has a god/savior complex and a pattern of being obsessed with people he heavily disagrees with, Lav is naive and easily wound up into an emotional frenzy where she explodes with unsubstantiated information, Ana is easily manipulated into believing she has been wronged and spirals into negative emotional states, and Destiny has a lot of sex but that isn’t horrible. The people he engages with are consenting adults who have the ability to say no and continue on their way and there is no evidence as of yet to prove otherwise. Not to say Destiny doesn’t have a role in all of this, I just think he fucked up letting MrGirl manipulate himself too far into his personal space and that started this MrGirl obsession cycle.

He has defended MGirl multiple times for the same things that he is condemning him for now. I don't believe Lav, she has discredited herself. Objectively, Steven is coming off very manipulative to me here. I don't think he's an abuser either.
