I think there was quite a bit of skill shown loading the Chieftain on to that trailer. Gentle and measured with the controls, despite being blasted in the face with water. Very nice.

Top tip, to owners of machines with hyd rams. Perhaps once every time you use them, operate them through the full range of movement and if possible, leave them sitting with the rams inside the cylinder.

Few hints, dig over the idlers not final drives. When power digging position the bucket angle to cut not drag the face of the teeth. Lots of little tricks to speed production & incur less west & tear.

you need some perspex or polycarbonate windows with 3m stone guard to resist scratching. or you could go the old clingwrap windows for the tight ass look.:) why didnt you swap the turbo from the dead engine to this one? sounds like you could use a bit more grunt.

Used to work for a plant hire company the powerwash was on hydraulic line of about 30meters we could unscrew the Lance and put drain jet on the end it would happily pull its way thought drains like that ... if your going to have lots of mud and silt it would be a good investment

Ted lives outside now :D The 215 seems underpowered and missing the turbo, but with the engine warm it seemed a lot happier :o) I will take a guess that the turbo version has slightly bigger pumps. It was ripping up the hard ground there though.

You can replace the inner hydraulic rod on the existing ram assembly, since it's only leaking around the rusted section of rod.

Gas-less MIG or fluxcore welds stronger due to the direction of the current. However the flux gas is aweful on your lungs. Get a good respirator welder mask now before you have trouble breathing in 20 years like me.

I use flux core on outside welding only because the argon tends to blow away in the breeze. Hard to get really neat welds though, but penetration always seems good when I have to cut through it. I would never use it indoors. Frankly I think anyone who welds more than an hour a fortnight should invest in a respirator, I cannot see breathing in any of that crap being good for you.

Mr Hews, ya'll don't need to send this tank to America, this tank needs in the Ukraine, like right now with 100 to 500 gob stopper rounds. Sure that may not make you much currency, but for right, now that is a bigger story. Gasless mig will not be much different than gas mig until gas bubbles occur because of oxygen in the air reacting to molten steel. Ya'll kinna tell if porosity is down in the puddle till ya'll x-ray the weld. My guess is much safer with gas as it is inert, either argon, nitrogen, or co2. This producing a non-reacting gas so if porosity because of rust flakes, paint, zinc surface components, then gas forms which ya'll kinna see whilst melting the bead along. I say bead because the weld puddle is so small.

Yes gasless wire welding is stronger than Mig with Gas. All machinists use it for extra strong welds when beauty does not matter
