Do you ever think about becoming a RN?
@brownskinbeauty.
@brownskinbeauty. 2 жыл бұрын
One of the techs that trained me during extern is an MRI/CT tech. He would let me assist him by screening the patient, setting up for exams, cleaning and disinfecting the room, and he would let me sit in the room with him during procedures and he explained what he was doing every time I was there. I never considered anything past RT until then and now it's all I think about. We need more channels like this showing what we really do in the radiology world

Just found your channel today, I want to salute you bro. I've been an MRI tech since 1999. I like what you're doing, from the little I've seen so far. I encourage you to keep it up, it's good to see the younger generation motivated and positive. I especially liked when you mentioned compassion, such an important part of what we do. So few understand what we really do, it's neat to see you peeling back the curtain a bit to encourage and inspire others. God bless you and your wife.

Hello! I saw that you been an MRI tech since 1999 and I been thinking about being one too. I just wanted to know if MRI techs ever give vaccines/ deal with needles head on?
@CarlosandKandisVids
@CarlosandKandisVids 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSaLViGuRL Hi Amber, thanks for you question, give vaccines, no, not inn radiology. You could probably volunteer to do that outside the hospital, but certainly not as an MRI tech. Deal with needles? Yes, most MRI techs start IV's regularly, unless you work in a really big department that has assistants or nurses that take care of that for you. I've worked in both environments. It's not that big of a deal, you can do it! I encourage you to learn more, I'll answer any question you have, if I can...

@@whitneyhull4310 DUUUUDE so sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been, and continue to be, on THE GRIND. Picked up a part time gig, and pretty much all of my free time is gone. Not complaining though, because that side hustle pays my mortgage with 12 hours of work. MRI techs are in short supply in San Antonio right now, and one of the hospitals in my system is so desperate they're paying me 133/hr to do that thing I do. I hope you come across something similar when you're trained up. The field could use some young go getters. I love to teach, been doing it a very long time. I'd enjoy giving you whatever tips and encouragement You'd like. Send me an email at mrsuperman1972@gmail.com

A tip to anyone going into this field. If you are new and going to an interview make sure they provide you with a registered tech, the ARRT is kind of vague on their sight but it seems the way I understand it, a MRI registered tech has to be able to vouch and sign off on your stuff not just a diagnostic Xray tech in mri. So in the interview make sure they have a registered tech, make sure they are BUSY. If they are slow, you won’t get the exams you need, and make sure you are not working alone most of the time, these are situations I’ve landed in and now I’m in a contract and I’m stuck just pushing buttons for the next two years. Again, find a busy place. Be ready to work, don’t be a lazy ass, if you want the easy road then by all means skip the registry and work at a clinic, you can take that easy road. But if you can obtain the diagnostic/CT/MRI registries the opportunists are as vast as a nurse and you can fetch way more cash than the average tech. That’s #1 reason why we are here the cash.

I process over 30 PT on a daily basis for 3 MR rooms in the facility that I work for in Miami. The mornings are always busy since we get the contrast PT's & not only I/V's but also Labs are needed for renal failure PT/Diabetic over 60 y/o. Prescriptions or referral are far from perfect and they randomly correct. Calling for new RX is a daily tasks while informing the PT about the situation; quintessential. I'm year into my Tech ARRT certification board exam/school 🎒 one more to go. MRI has been challenging since they one but if you're in this field you're getting a constant reward by helping every single one of them, one case at a time, one day at a time. I'd like to believe something that I get to se the inside' before the DR.s 😄🤙🏼

Hi I was considering being an mri tech bc I have a medical history where I had mris every year. Because of that, as an 18 year old, I strangely know a lot of things about mris lol. I think the technology is really cool. Did you attend a 4 year university? How did you get through it?

I've been in construction my entire life but it's never felt like a career suited for me. Nervous to start school but I plan on starting the MRI program offered at my CC next spring. I'm not afraid of needles/injections but I'm also not really comfortable with them yet. I'm sure that will come with more exposure/time. Thanks for these videos brother they're quite helpful.

Thats awesome you are making a effort to change careers , realizing construction isn't for you. I've seen many overcome their fear of needles. Watching other people perform ivs helps desensitized your self. I've been sticking veins forever. I was a phlebotomist for 5 years before I became a tech. Overcome adversity

I wish I was brave enough to go to school for this. I’ve been looking to get out of my kinda work cuz my body can’t take it anymore and the only thing I came across that I found interesting is this but I don’t think I’m smart enough to do it. I struggled bad in high school so that just makes me doubt myself. I don’t even really know where to start to become one either.

Love the videos brotha! Looking into switching careers and getting into the radiology field leaning towards more of mri. Your videos have been helpful understanding mri and answering my questions about the field. Also inspiring me on my decision making to switch career too. I’m looking into getting an online program. I’m from vegas and most of the colleges offer 2 year programs with waitlist but I’m trying to get it done ASAP. Looked into gurnick academy and prices varies to almost 40k. Looking into another one called pulse radiology institute which is almost half which is about 23k. Have you or anyone heard anything good about them? Would love to hear your input! Thanks again and keep up the good work!

I know a few students that went to Gurnick and it got the job done. I would say as long as the school allows you to sit for the ARRT certification than your good. Thats all you really need. No one will really care what school you went too. Thanks for watching and glad I could help!
