I have been following Angelina daily for two years and this one has never come up. It really reveals the creative process. She looks 10 here, and already she's leading this group of professional studio musicians. She's every bit their equal. Norway has great jazz players and I'll bet they all feel privileged to be jamming with her.

These behind the scene videos of her rehearsals were not done to be shown, they are family videos, done by her mom or grandmother, but due to Angelinas rising fame, the videos have been uploaded to KZbin, as a gift, that I just love.

Angelina has been in control since the beginning, there are a few instances where someone else controlled the arrangement and you can tell the level of irritation she had for a poor performance because the band didn’t follow her! She has never been just a singer, she is an artist and when you watch through her performances you will note that her best performances are scaled back on the accompanying musicians, preferring either a single instrument or small band over a whole orchestra. She is the performance. This also is from her experience with Ella Fitzgerald’s performing style, and there are overtones of this style on everything Angelina does!

The boss of 10 YO. Inside the studio she is the boss, they don't tell her which line she is going to sing and how. Rather, she tells you how to play your line and when. She has the facility to deconstruct a song and reassemble it as a base on which she will contribute with her voice everything she extracted from the original without losing the original quality and meaning. There is another video in which she guides the trumpet line with her voice and others in which she introduces modifications to the score or indicates to the pianist how to play a complete phrase. She is definitely a genius.

IMO she is being more than musically clever. I believe she is deeply connected to this song because of her experience with the young shoeless girl she met when she was six. She is painting the portrait of this child and sees herself. It’s not only in her performing without shoes, I can hear echoes of this child in many of Angelina’s songs- “love life, the good and the bad”, “forgive me for all that I am”, “I’m never alone”, “don’t give up” “life should be lived with hope”. While these lines and songs have other meanings, this child is always with her. Angelina continues to paint this portrait, which is becoming richer and more beautiful everyday.

Thank you for an amazing reaction. You really know your music history. The original is a fantastic song, one of the few songs that screamin Jay did without all the crazy acting. He was a good singer(also did some opera) but the audience always expected the crazy show from him. I really could imagine how he actually just wanted to sing his songs in a normal way. That is also what I love about Angelina's version of "I put a spell". She extract all the beauty of the song, removes the craziness, but at the same time keeps the deep feelings. She understands how Screamin Jay would have presented it, if they had allowed him. And that at an age of 9!!!

Hi again. There are two current day absolute prodigies ; one being this magnificent artist Angelina Jordon & the other is one I mentioned to you a short time ago by the name of Amira Willighagen. They are streets apart as far as music genre is concerned, but their musical journey is basically mirrored, even dow to the incredible philanthropic attributes. Amira being a Soprano, does not get the attention that Angelina gets, although her talent is just as amazing. I’ll again list this one performance , should you be interested. Singing blues is and has to be instinctive or it sounds contrived and bad. The tears in my eyes while listening to this comes from the fact that l, we are witnessing a prodigy. She now as a teenager and a young woman is taking this into the studio to make what l hope will be an album that will introduce her to the world. I just pray they don't try to make her a pop princess. We have far to many of them now and it is mindless. Keep it simple, all she needs is that beautiful voice with that honey rich tone and her soul that comes from above.
