KitchenAid Mixer Head Not Staying Locked How to Fix!

This has been an issue plaguing the tilt head style of mixers for years now. You add your ingredients, lower the head and lock it, then it just slips out sending ingredients flying all over the place. In this video we go over some of the reasons why this happens and how to fix it so you never have to worry about it again.

Thank you so much! Although I did not replace the locking mechanism, I used your video to open the Artisan tilt head I have to see where the issue was, and used a metal file to make more space for the locking hook. My mixer is not even 2 years old and came with this issue and it just got worse not matter how much I made the other adjustments found online. Unfortunately, I am NOT a fan of KA customer service and they were no help especially since it was a few months after the 1 year warranty.

I have an '89 KA Classic. I cleaned under the beauty band, and when I put it back together, I did the dime thing, but it wouldn't lock. The screw down in the throat was way up, almost out. I fied that, but the head still has play. Without thinking things through, I took the brushes out. When I put them back in, my mixer didn't run. The brushes actually go in two different ways. It still won't run. I made sure that i put them back in the way they came out. Grr. I don't have money to ship this. The brushes look fine though. It ran before I took those out. I'm surprised you didn't show us an old Hobart lock lever for comparison. I just got one off eBay and put it on an artisan in the Hobart lock lever hook had no Ridges at all. The difference was night and day.

Now I know why my KA is bouncing! I think my lock (the hook) is broken. True story…I dropped it a week after I bought it.😢

Hello, good evening, I wanted to ask you a question, I have an artisan that works perfectly empty but once I put dough on it it starts to have a hard time turning, could it be do you have any ideas.

@@pk2ccs you most likely have a bad phase board or field assembly. Resulting in low torque it should be rebuilt!

I have a lift mixer and no matter how much i turn the screw the paddle is stil atleast half inch to high is there anything else i can do?
