5:11 True story, I'm Thai and my grandma visited me when I was studying in London, so she was cooking with Shrimp paste, I went outside to buy noodles from the Asian supermarket. We didn't have the best smoke hood, so she opened the windows. I came back, to see five construction guys drilling the front of our house. I asked them why they were here- "Your neighbour complained about smelling a gas leak". I went into the kitchen, grabbed some shrimp paste, made them smell it, and they went red in the face, and wrinkled up their noses as if they had been forced to lick vomit. They apologised, and fixed the 2 metre-deep hole they had drilled. My neighbour moved out a month later.

2:48 For more information, back then, the Isan region was a part of the Laos kingdom. However, following the Lao-Siamese War (1778-1779), all three Lao kingdoms-Luang Phrabang, Vientiane, and Champasak-became Siamese tributary vassal kingdoms under Siamese suzerainty and domination in Thonburi during the subsequent Rattanakosin Period. Nevertheless, after the Franco-Siamese War of 1893, it became evident that Siam couldn't successfully challenge France militarily. Consequently, the Siamese agreed to cede Laos to France. This decision had far-reaching consequences, leading to the significant expansion of French Indochina. As a Thai living in Surin, it's possible that my ancestors are either Lao or Khmer. I'm not sure. In Surin, we can speak both Khmer and Lao. ref Lao-Siamese War (1778-1779) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lao%E2%80%93Siamese_War_(1778%E2%80%931779) Franco-Siamese War en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco-Siamese_War

We literally speak almost the same language, when the lady said "Theep Paak Mueng", it also meant the same in Thai.
