14:10 Half korean here, my parents are korean. Usually jajangmyeon is not that sweet. I mean, one of the most important ingredient for the black bean sauce is onions, and since it's the first thing to add in the wok it releases all the sugar from the onions. And I don't know why, but in korean restaurants or some brands of jajang sauce are specially so sweet, and I mean very sweet. So I don't blame you uncle Roger, it is indeed very sweet
@ArcticGator11 сағат бұрын
sounds like they are substituting quality for a lot of sugar to compensate for poor cooking methods, the only korean food i have had is bulgogi and i made it so im sure it wouldnt be as good as proper korean bulgogi would be.
@YukiOtonashiCh11 сағат бұрын
a lot of restaurant localized the ingredients and flavor so it fits with the locals tongue. i learn it when i was traveling and dine in franchies fast food like McDonalds
@AzizuddinAziz10 сағат бұрын
Jjajangmyeons in Malaysia mostly have been "Malaysianized". Most of the time it is not even black bean sauce, straight up sweet soy sauce. Throw in some sausages on top of a spaghetti, there's the Malaysian "Jjajangmyeon". As a halal eater, it is so difficult to find a proper black bean noodles since most of the times they used pork's fat for the sauce. I only found one spot with a really nice jjajang so far that really hits me in the spot like the one I had in Korea. Sadly, the restaurant seems to be really slow since their price point is on the higher end. I hope they will not be closing, because I would go eat there once a while
@verentyee54139 сағат бұрын
Hello there, I am 75% Chinese, 25% Korean! Jjajangmyeon is also one of my favorite noodle dishes. I do not have a favorite style, yet I notice a difference in flavor between how Chinese and Korean chefs cook it. The ones I have had so far in my lifetime are not that sweet. Regardless, it tastes great!😋

When I had durian because the store I worked at was doing a special where they brought in exotic fruit like durian, Star fruit, and dragon fruit the durian tasted like juicy fruit gum to me if i remember correctly. It’s like bear meat, smells like shit but tastes amazing. And for those wondering I know about bear meat because my dad shot a black bear once and we made bear burgers and cooking it smelled like sewage but it’s the best meat I’ve ever had. But if you make it wrong it’s tough and tastes bad but if made right it’s delicious and juicy.
