this is a good video to show to beginner competitive medic mentees
@zheon80697 жыл бұрын
As a medic main, I thank you for this video. So I recently started to play with my irl friends who know what to do and such. I went to a 5v5 match on frontier on defense with a good friend of mine on Brass Beast heavy and me with kritz. Needless to say, both of us dominated the entire enemy team and he got about 100 points in the entire match while I got 50 ish. Wish I had a replay of that. A Critical Brass Beast is not something that you want to see when you turn around a corner.

Concerning crit heals, would it be better to heal hurt players that are coming out of battle, or wait and get the crit heals?
@tiny4569877 жыл бұрын
eloressa the songbird I think this is situational, maybe someone actually good at this game will correct me. but what I do is if someone near me is being shot they HAVE to be healed. there is zero way around that. so the guy behind me has to wait and in all honesty they prob don't have crit heals yet. then when I have a sec I'll take the two seconds to heal them up.
@MRSLIN7 жыл бұрын
Adding on to this, I recommend prioritizing crit heals and then healing hurt players taking damage second. Crit heals won't last forever but the person being hit will last just a bit longer, and if they're at 10 hp about to die then you probably can't save them anyways so might as well get those crit heals up. Focus on Heals Per Second! That said, rules are always made to be broken so part of being a good medic is learning when to break these rules but they should take you pretty far.

MR SLIN this would make a great video topic. to me my #1 priority is dont let ppl die. Given positioning is still ok, I wont stop healing someone being shot at that """"needs"""" heals. This is a hard moment that I think a lot of new medics (myself included) need help with. Example: you have a roamer standing behind you screaming at you to crit heal but at the same time you got ur pocket at ~100 health actually taking damage needing healing. thats a very common and very difficult moment
@MRSLIN7 жыл бұрын
Definitely. I likely won't be making a video on this topic since it's too nuanced, but I'll go into detail for you here. Consider the following: 1) When you crit heal the roamer behind you, he'll actually be able to use that health to get into battle and relieve pressure from your pocket who is under fire. If the pocket can live for just a little bit longer, you're golden, since crit heals are so fast. 2) If your pocket can't hold on for a little bit longer, you probably couldn't save him anyways. Remember, 24 hp per second is relatively slow compared to the rate at which your pocket could potentially take damage. If he gets knocked down to ~15 health, it'd require around three seconds of healing to get him out of the deep red. He's basically a goner anyways so you can spare a moment to crit heal someone else who will be more useful in the next 10 seconds of teamfighting. 3) The crossbow is super OP right now, so you might go for a crossbow instead of the 3 seconds of healing. That's probably the better decision but it really depends how hot the situation is right now and how confident you are in hitting the shot. It's super nuanced, a video wouldn't do it justice without a lot of examples, and even then it'd probably be too complicated for the majority of players. I think you already have a good understanding of some of the factors that you need to consider, so your best bet is to do some testing to see which one has a higher percentage chance of you winning the team fight. If healing the ~100 hp pocket is winning you 80% of your teamfights then you're making the right call. In my personal experience I've found the opposite to be true -- going for the crit heals always pays off and it's your pocket's fault for getting that low in the first place. We call that "being overextended" :)
@tiny4569877 жыл бұрын
thanks that helps. the crossbow really is the answer to a lot of problems these days, its like critheals all the time! in the stock competitive mode, no real reason to heal a heavy at 24, double arrow then overheal after lololol.

Hey mr slin, what happened to esports podcasts? Really liked them!
@specialk196117 жыл бұрын
Well I mean your team plays some role in it. If they aren't defending you then you have to play super passive and won't really get much healing done. I see what you are saying but it is on both yourself and your team. It is Team Fortress 2 after all.
@MRSLIN7 жыл бұрын
True true. Not disagreeing with you but my point was that you have much more responsibility for your own life than you think. It's too easy to blame teammates but you're right, a Medic (or support class in any game for that matter) is only as good as his teammates.
@NinjaGamer8207 жыл бұрын
slin you should make a plugin that highlights players with crit heals (if it's even possible)

Mr. Slin, I got 52 hours as medic. I went to (low class) scrim with my friends and even though I have 300 ping on the server, they praised me because I got 19K of heals (but I'm not contented because the average healing point is 25K.) AND I got 4 deaths only. My question, is that good for the low class medic? P.S: I got improve because of your advice on how to be better as medic. ;w;
@MRSLIN7 жыл бұрын
KatMeaw 4 deaths was good assuming the match was around 30 minutes long! just make sure you're not playing too passively. I think the hard part is striking a balance between putting heals up front and not dying. be careful not to swing too much one way or the other!
