Actually, fleeing troops running through the camp was historically accurate to Okehazama. It added to the chaos of the situation and caused some of Imagawa's elite troops to flee immediately. What this battle represents is just a small portion of what was going on at Okehazama. Imagawa forces were scattered all over attacking a series of small Oda forts (which in turn had been setup to encircle 2 Imagawa castles). Yoshimoto saw Oda Nobunaga's forces arrive and assumed he didn't have the gall to attack him, so he retired back to his camp surrounded by his elite forces which were resting and celebrating earlier skirmishes and minor victories. Overconfident, he didn't setup proper patrols, and those he had half-assed their job in the rain. Meanwhile Oda's forces left a bunch of peasant volunteers holding clan banners (1 in each hand) standing on a hill top visible to the Imagawa camp. Removing their heavier armor (so that clattering noise wouldn't give them away) they advanced in full force, ambushing Imagawa's vanguard and routing them back towards the camp. With the rain dampening sounds, the first warning Imagawa received was his fleeing frontline unit running into the camp, which unnerved some of the (likely drunk) soldiers and caused them to flee. One story claims Yoshimoto himself mistook the noise for drunken brawling in his camp and stepped out of his tent, ordering the nearby guard to quell the fight. But the "guard" was actually an Oda soldier whose attack Yoshimoto barely avoided, only to get beheaded from behind by another. It's probably a fictional story, other accounts says he fled into a marsh and fought valiantly to his death. Either way, the majority of the Imagawa clan's important officers were swiftly killed in the surprise attack, causing the rest of his forces to collapse (despite their still significant numbers), fleeing or surrendering. Matsudaira Motoyasu (aka Tokugawa Ieyasu) was among those positioned at the frontline, unaware of the ambush until news of Yoshimoto's death arrived. He surrendered, you know the rest. Yeah autocast has always been wonky in the best of times, probably even more so in scripted historical battles. I was fighting a naval battle recently in "dry" weather where my bow kobayas would not autocast fire arrows, no clue why. They wouldn't autocast the fast rowing ability either. I noticed every time I switched to another ship then came back the autocast was disabled. /shrug.

I second that, that battle is a mess. Naval battle mechanics in shogun 2 are a bit of a mess to begin with. It's a shame not to move on to Sekigahara afterwards though, that battle historically is like nothing else in feudal Japan, and possibly any part of the feudal world.

For me though, i'm a bit disappointed they didn't give us more toyotomi historical battle like yamazaki or shizugatake. Oh and how about honnoji
@Naraku-no-Hana-WE4 жыл бұрын
@@rizalalbar if you wanted to play as Toyotomi you're picking the wrong battles. At Yamazaki and Shizugatake Hashiba Hideyoshi greatly outnumbered his opponents and had the element of surprise, so those historical battles would have to have you play as Akechi Mitsuhide and Shibata Katsuie/Sakuma Morimasa. Honnou-ji isn't really a battle, more of an assassination but I suppose you could what-if a small Oda garrison force breaking through Akechi lines. Another one would be the battle of Komaki and Nagakute, but again that would have you as Tokugawa Ieyasu against Hashiba Hideyoshi as Ieyasu technically won against twice his numbers. Or Shimazu against him as he invaded Kyushu. Or Odawara as Hojo against him. Generally speaking Hideyoshi's famous battles had him outnumbering opponents, as he succeeded Oda Nobunaga's brilliant success. His brilliance came more from positioning and planning before battles. Personally I consider him a big time schemer and I believe he conspired with Akechi Mitsuhide (and possibly others before him) in his betrayal of Oda Nobunaga. The battle I'd really love to see added is Mikatagahara, as Tokugawa upsetting Takeda Shingen. However Shogun 2 tried to avoid repeating battles fought in Shogun 1. When they repeated then they had them fought from the opposite perspective, but you can't do that at Mikatagahara with 10:1 odds. There are also some incredible battles featuring Shimazu vs Ito, and Mori against the Amago and their allies that would make great historical battles. Also battles like Sekigahara had conflicts in multiple regions at once, some of which were incredible siege defenses against massive odds.

@@Naraku-no-Hana-WE wow, i never considered that toyotomi mostly won by sheer number. But nonetheless how about the Oda invading Saito? Or maybe some the siege of ueda? If i recalled it there's atleast 2 times where the tokugawa trying to take the castle from sanada. The 1st one before sekigahara and the 2nd one during sekigahara
