Back by popular demand, House Cleanjoy! I discontinued this soap from the Game of Soaps line and had to bring it back for the holiday season because people have requested it. This salt brine bar contains salt within the lye solution, and salt is also used as the exfoliant. Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. I ADORE the appearance of this soap. Just gorgeous. I really like the one pot pour method more and more over the fancy swirl techniques. I like the unpredictable messiness of the look. It’s two years too late but I’m going to see if there are any of these left on the website 😂

What should be the percentage of sea salt per kilo of oils?

Hey! For a salt brine bar, it's generally 5-10% of the oil weight in salt. Have fun!

Fatty? I don’t understand that bit, but salt brine bars are really good for acne, skin irritations, and dry or oily skin.

Love watching your videos. I did notice the pot your using is very likely enamel over aluminum as I dont believe they make them in stainless steel. May want to check that.

Ha! Thanks for the heads up, but this is a pot that was made for me to mimic an old pot my grandma had when I was a kid that I loved. It’s stainless, and 90% of my soaps made over the last 6ish years have been in this pot. No bush league soaping around here! 😂

@@MrsSoapAndClay Whenever I make my videos I'm careful about what I say because I don't want people telling me I'm doing something wrong/dangerous over something that's mostly an opinion. I forget to wear long sleeves for a lot of my videos even though it's considered safer to wear long sleeves and long dish gloves. But the dish gloves make me drop things because I lose dexterity lol, and long sleeves get in my way sometimes. I want to be a good example, but in real life I'm pretty laid back about most of my soaping. I do wear eye protection though, I tend to accidentally splatter my lye and raw soap a lot haha. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on ingredients, best practices, and opinion vs real facts. I think I heard you say in some of your videos that you have a chemist background, so maybe you could approach it from that angle :)
