Fact about Gladiator I like to say. They filmed it in Malta and asked the government if they wanted to keep the Rome sets as a tourist attraction. The government, for some reason, said no. Later they changed their mind when they saw the sets and asked them to keep them but at the point they'd just been built cheaply. Scott said if they had wanted to keep them before they would have actually been built properly. To this day I bet Malta is kicking itself it doesn't have the Gladiator Rome tourist attraction

Richard Harris story! I saw him as King Arthur in Camelot in Toronto in or around 1985. He was great (despite his ... let's say workmanlike ... singing voice), but the moment I remember best was when the sound system in the theatre started crackling and popping for like 20 seconds. Harris paused whatever speech he was making, looked up into the rafters, and said something like, "Are you quite done with your fiendish trickery, Merlin!?" That brought the house down. It was the kind of unpredictable impromptu moment that can make live theatre such fun. Also, like Mason's love of the Minigun Moment, I have an affinity for Barrages of Flaming Arrows, and I hold Gladiator responsible ... It was the first time I'd seen such a thing, and it was life-changing. Not really, but I liked it. Edit: Sorry I sent a duplicate of this to your gmail, but I don't know whether you read YT comments. Kevin Spacey was cleared of all charges. Armie Hammer's case never even went to trial because the accuser's own lawyers dropped her as a client. She refused to sign her own testimony affidavits. Elmo's puppeteer's accuser completely recused themselves and dropped all charges. Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn have been MARRIED for TWENTY SEVEN YEARS now and they have two children. Trevor Bauer proved in court that his accuser deliberately tried to frame him by counter-suing for her text messages to be made public instead of asking for any financial judgment (even though her accusation cost him literally tens of millions) Are you folks ever going to figure out that the media will always act like these people are monsters even when they're absolved? Not only that, many of Russell Crowes lines are also taken from that book, to imply he was quoting him. "what we do in life, echos in eternity!" "Death smiles at us all, the best we can do is smile back " "Nothing happens to any of us that we are not fitted by nature to near." -most of the big moments in the script were lifted directly from 2000 year old philosophy texts. -thats cool. Russell Crowe had one of the best responses to being mocked on South Park I think. The "fightin' 'round the world" bit.

In high school, we watched this gladiator movie, and Robin Hood: prince of thieves in our history class. And for an end of year project, my friend and I, in one setting, made a “death battle” video between the titular gladiator, and titular Robin Hood. Robin Hood won because he had ranged attacks and was able to deal damage before the gladiator got close.

When you played the bit of Metal Gear Solid music. It made me think of the contrast between a hack writer, Kojima, trying to portray a cool masculine hero, and this movie with maybe the most iconic cool masculine hero ever.

I wonder if they intended to put Asterix and Obelix in the same shot as the guy in shirt and jeans at 10:19. One of my favorite bloopers ever, but I actually have no idea if it's a famous one or not.

All of my other earthly desires have fallen away. I now only want to see Nick Cave's Gladiator sequel.

I will die on this hill. Ridley Scott is a GOAT director and everything he has made is extremely watchable!

If memory serves, Ridley and Russel re-created the "That's coooool!!!!!" moment in Robin Hood, during the final fight on the beach.

11:02 Russel Crowe’s face says it all. “Yep I’m dressed as a Roman and that’s a literal tiger”
