A friend of mine wrote their graduate thesis on the role of agency and authority in children's/YA literature contrasting Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and ATLA. In Harry Potter, information from adults is treated as absolute truth (Dumbledore is basically the word of God). In ATLA, it's the exact opposite: anything from adults is considered suspect and is heavily scrutinized. In the Hunger Games, information is kept from the protagonist which results in a lack of agency (particularly in the last book). That Jennifer Lawrence's character seems not to have an active role is a feature, not a bug: I think it resonates with a lot of young adults who feel like they don't have a lot of agency and probably contributed to the success of the series.

In the dystopian future, there are only two shows on TV. the hunger games and is it cake. Peeta's application went to the wrong one.

There's two parts of district 12. Katniss is from the slum but Peeta is from the slightly posher part where there are people who can afford to go to the bakers

Katniss and Gale live in the poorer area of District 12, known as the Seam, while Peeta comes from a slightly better-off part of the district. Peeta is not only a cake decorator but he also paints and sketches. There is a hierarchy not only between the districts but also within each district. Districts 1-4(career districts) are the closest to the Capitol in terms of privilege. That's the reason why it was difficult to convince them to join the rebellion, they were well-off, aside from training one of their children to volunteer for the Games(which they thought was an "necessary evil" or who knows they might have even believed the propaganda by the capitol). Following them in the line hierarchy are the other districts from 4 to 12. The Seam in District 12 is the lowest of the low.

For being such an awesome archer, you ever notice how she always misses her first shot? Beginning of the movie, misses the deer. Training session, she barely manages to hit the target. Blowing up the mine field, misses the first shot at the apple. She misses when she shoots at the little 90 pound knife girl, and only manages to shoot Huey after he kills She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. She might even take a shot at dude-bro and miss at the end of the movie, but I'm not positive about that one.
