I really like the Sub to Dub change at 3:49. The exchange of “That’s your problem?!” and “What else would it be?!” does fit and make sense, but I think the dub exchange of “Why is that where your mind goes?!” “Because we need to know!” better emphasizes that, while Laios is going to an odd place with this, its not out of his own obsession with monsters, he really does have his eye on the goal here, and is refusing to take any shit for it. Given how often in the season his weird digressions are treated as a joke, its a great moment to show just how focused he really is here, that this stuff isn’t just a weird obsession of his.

Yeah, I think the translators did a better job for the dub in this case. I’m not sure why, but the quality of the subs is so inconsistent? Sometimes it keeps very true to the original Japanese but sometimes it tries too hard to be original, which only results in very stilted English.

If I were to translate that part directly into English, it would probably be "How many servings does that make?" "That's not the point!" "No, that's the point!" Neither of these are direct translations of the Japanese.

The direct translation is 'That's not the point,' 'No, that is the point,' but I like both exchanges in the sub and dub. I'm Japanese, and I enjoy seeing the differences and the effort put into English translations in anime.

The English dub is very good, instantly noticed ProZD voicing Senshi and Casey Mongillo voicing Chillchuck, which I think are very good choices. Im not a weeb so I don’t have any opinion on “sub vs dub” when it comes to accuracy, I just find dub easier to understand.

It's funny, at a time when anime dubs have gotten, if anything, TOO accurate and too direct in translation, we get such a botched title. Meshi means meal. You could have gone with "Dungeon Dinner" or even Delicious Dungeon I would have forgiven. but IN? As Orson Welles would say, 'show me how you can say delicious IN dungeon and I'll.. go down on you'
