Wont the floor now be slightly not perfectly flat/level as you walk away from the door joint? You are raising the height of the floor as it gets closer to the door joint, so wont this cause a small valley/ramp?
@MrYoucandoityourself9 ай бұрын
Hi, for this small ramp no any problem, you can’t feel it and it’s not visible. Just you know about it because I showed it.

Hey mr do you think the different brands of self-leveling compound are a lot different or are they all pretty much similar
@MrYoucandoityourself2 жыл бұрын
Not all brands working similar. I am preferred Mapei, other brands not using because quality not good or price to high. Thanks!

Nice! Do you ever use a wet trowel to smooth and polish the surface as it's curing (as you would if you were plastering)?

what was that green tape you used to block the bottom seam? In other videos you use caulk but the tape seems a lot easier.

Regular painters masking tape, you can find it home depot -$3.

Hi, thanks for the great video. Just a question which was inspired by it, can you self level a slope towards a drain in say a bathroom? Would this same technique allow you to produce a higher to lower slope?
@MrYoucandoityourself3 жыл бұрын
Hi Vince, you can do it with different materials, it's called "4 in one" from Mapei, or use this self-leveling compound with lover water quantity. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I know you add a little extra water to give a longer working time, but can you tell me how much. I live in the Nevada desert where it is very dry.

Great videos by the way. Thank you.

In this video I add less water than recommended by manufacturer, because I did sloping. Try with small amount of SLC, work in morning time with coolest water. Thanks!
@lukewhitney19572 жыл бұрын
@@MrYoucandoityourself Sorry, I should have been more specific. I've watched all your videos, and I asked about the extra bit of water because I am going to level a fairly large area.
@MrYoucandoityourself2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I added little more water when I am doing bigger area and I don’t know how works other SLC with more water. You have to check with small amount of SLC first. Also if your area too hot, don’t add warm water to SLC otherwise time for fork will be dramatically getting shorter. Thanks

how long do you let primer dry before putting self level ? 24 hours or more ?
@MrYoucandoityourself3 жыл бұрын
Hi, if warm inside and subfloor dry, it's will be ready in half an hour. But usually around one to two hour's. Thanks!

Hi love your videos! I am using Novoplan 2 plus and following instructions for mixing ratio but find that it is drying too fast over concrete subfloor. Any recommendations?
@MrYoucandoityourself4 жыл бұрын
Hi, depending what moisture in the air. If you living in California, you need add little more water and it should be the coolest water you can find. Also if not properly primed subfloor, water absorb every fast from compound to subfloor ant time for leveling to short. Is this clear?

Can we apply primer on top of vinyl floor tile to apply self leveling cement? Thanks

Yes, you can . But you need make it rough with sandpaper or grinder, then put primer and compound. I did it time to time but prep work very important. Thanks

Hi Andie, I showed this way, because if you need to make small leveling but you don’t have straight edge, you can use this idea. But this way for emergencies. Thanks!

Hi all your videos are absolutely great!!! You're the best self leveling concrete teacher I've seen on youtube! 2 opposite corners of my plywood subfloor are about 1inch lower than the highest spot in the middle and I hope you can help me answer some questions before I try level it with SLC: 1. I'm planning to add a layer of 3/4 and 3/8 plywood on the low areas first to save materials. Do you recommend sanding the plywood edges for a smoother flow of SLC or it's not necessary? 2. What is the minimum thickness of SLC from the highest point of the subfloor for tiles? 1/4 inch? 1/2 inch? 3. I don't see you chalking the seams between plywood sheets. Is it necessary? 4. My plywood surface is about 1000 sq ft. Do you think I should divide it up into 2 or 3 smaller areas and work on only one area at a time? I'm worried that my wife and I won't have enough manpower to finish the whole room within the 25 - 35 mins flowing time. We will use the 15 gallon barrel but still... it's our first time... Thanks again! You rock! Cпасибо!

@MrYoucandoityourself5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ezra, for floor leveling we don't have any limitation. If your floor uneven - just do it! Here it is explanation - kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJ6VmqeuhcynhcU
@FisherCatProductions4 жыл бұрын
There is flat, and there is level. Mostly you need a floor to be flat to apply finish flooring (laminate, tile, etc.) You may only need a smoothing coat, and not necessarily a leveling coat which would be thicker on the low end. Many floors can be an inch out of level from one side of a room to the other, and you will not notice. Unless it is critical that the floor be perfectly level, be satisfied if it is flat and smooth.
