Loving all the videos that keep coming right now. Been really giving VR a proper go with my Rift S and totally hooked. Performance and enjoyment has been excellent of late, and your videos always provide food for thought and great insights! Keep ip the great work!

Grd seems the way to go I’m running a 3090ti an reverb g2 dlss dx12 no issues besides trying to keep the g2 in the right spot on my face I seem to be adjusting it more than flying in order to maintain that clear pinpoint view I believe we need a decent advancement in vr tech where we can look with our eyes while still using our head because as soon as you look without moving your head seriously sucks basically anywhere our eyes look should be clear in vr

Thanks for that, very interesting results. For some reason I have been unable to run VR in DX12 I just get instant CTD, RTX 3090 and HP Reverdb G2 V2. One thing, urrghhh, I just have to say the concorde is awful, I thought it was FS 95 when the video started! They have put absolutely no effort whatsoever into it its atrocious. Sorry. ; )

With my G2 3080, I’m using game driver. DX12/DLSS causes weird vibrations when I look around. Finding best with DX11/DLSS. Will try DX11/TAA and DX12/TAA. Between OXR settings and which in-game settings, it’s a tweak-fest once again lol!

VR is absolutely awesome but I've just been sticking with 2d until the hardware gets better, hopefully the new offerings from NVidia/Amd and intel will finally make it worth while investing, its all or nothing with VR, lets hope we shall see worthwhile improvement over the next few months that will truly make VR shine without all the messing.

only diff I noticed when I ran both, is that my CPU was running hotter with the Studio driver, no idea why.

Nice comparison and can't wait to see what the RTX 4090 will bring but much more intrestring AMD RX 7000 GPU's will bring that I hope will be more powerful while not using so much more power Pcie 5.0 ? lets see what the GPU titan war will give us in MSFS2020 VR. Thanks for this great content my friend.

My best guess is that the 4090 will bring roughly 35% more FPS than the 3090. So if we are getting 40 fps now, we will get 54 fps then. Kind of disappointing, but based on the history of all previous GPU generations, this is most likely the case.

Off topic a bit. Any issues with Windows Mixed Reality minimising windows when HP Reverb G2 wakes up ?
@dabneyoffermein5952 жыл бұрын
yea, all kinds of wonkiness with the G2, very irritating. LIke to get VR back it's like so drama filled. Windows-Y, Cntl-Alt V, nothing, then WIN-Y again, Cntl-alt-V, then nothing, go into the flight sim software if you can find the mouse cursor and manually click VR option at bottom of menu options, grab headset quick or it will go wonky again, I need 4 hands to get it all settled and even then maybe not. WIN-Y till blue in face.

What power supply rating do you have in your current rig Steve, Is it 1Kw or will you be trying the 4090 in a new pc with power a supply to suit. Jay two cents (JTC) has some interesting comments to make on the 4090 including the fact it needs special cables?
@tek_soup2 жыл бұрын
just go for broke, evga has a 1600 watt power supply, i use and it wasnt to much. then you never have to worry and 10 year warranty. The "special Cable" comes with the graphics card, it is the same cable as the 3090ti maybe 1 more pcie connector, it is just a splitter cable, i use 3 pcie power cables to this 1 cable. They are coming out with new power supplies so you dont have to use the splitter cable, but not many out yet.

Hi, my Reverb G2 cable died so I'm using the Quest 2 while waiting for a new cable. But I'm shocked to see how pixelated the Quest 2 looks. I'm using the link cable @ a bit rate of 500. Is the difference between the G2 and Quest 2 really that massive?

What refresh rate and render resolution do you have set in the oculus app?
@kevinbrook70332 жыл бұрын
I find the Quest 2 running at 5408 x 2736 looks really impressive for most titles, even relative to my G2. I haven't used the Quest 2 in MSFS for many months, but I was struck that more than any game MSFS really shows the resolution difference between the two headsets, especially on the distant horizon where the Quest 2 looks like a pixelated mess.
@sirgriffinman2 жыл бұрын
Yes.
@kevinbrook70332 жыл бұрын
@@GetOffMyyLawn For MSFS I'd use it at 72Hz with the slider as far to the right as it would go, so 5408 x 2736 resolution. It looks great for games like Half Life Alyx at the resolution but the fine detail in MSFS and distant horizon didn't translate well in the Quest 2 compared to the G2 which looked much better. I only use the G2 for MSFS now though so not sure if Quest 2 has improved.
@GetOffMyyLawn2 жыл бұрын
@@kevinbrook7033 same here... I don't have a G2, so for me the Quest looks good at 72hz and slider one step b4 your setting. Honestly, there are so many places in the pipeline to tweak things, it's sometimes hard know what impact the changes are having. I wish there was a benchmark script in msfs that could log framerates, cpu, skips etc so things could be tested more consistently.

i was thinking, i think you need 3 computers. 1 state of the art 1 with a cpu bottleneck and 1 with a gpu bottleneck. This way you can test and show us what works on various systems. Have a small feeling that dx12 might be nice for cpu bottlenecked systems. *which is my system Allthough, this is just a hunch of mine and will test it for myself the coming weekend.

@@VRFlightSimGuy You do not need really 3 Computers for it. What about reducing clock speed for CPU with a tool to sim CPU bound situations? And for GPU bound Sims you can just reduce Power level in Tweak III.
