Hello Hardware Unboxed! Thanks for using Blur Busters pursuit camera -- we should add you to the reviewers list! You should also test refresh rate headroom with blur reduction modes. 120Hz strobed at 240Hz is vastly superior to 120Hz strobed at 144Hz.

Se we should set mbr at 120hz while refresh rate at 240hz, or the other way around? Moreover how do you rate that motion handling? It's the only thing I'm not convinced about

@@NomadBale Refresh rate headroom makes it easier to hide LCD GtG in total darkness between strobe flashes. 120Hz strobe on 240Hz monitors has less crosstalk than 120Hz strobe on 144Hz monitors. Just an unfortunate law-of-physics matter.
@BlurBusters4 жыл бұрын
...It's also why NVIDIA ULMB has an artificially low-capped strobe range. While others brands uncap to higher strobe rates (at the cost of strobe crosstalk). Consequently, 120Hz strobe on 240Hz monitors are more CRT clarity with less strobe-related degradation.

1:39 this is why I love today's market with so many independent reviewers. In the old days we'd just have to take their word for it, or read in a magazine something that had to be pre approved by the PR of a company. Now a request is I may: Can you look into 2560 x 1080 UW-UXGA monitors? They're nothing too exciting, but they should be cheap and give a nice experience, the problem is I think prices on those have been going up lately, what gives? If anything they should be going down?
@dynastes49384 жыл бұрын
They are probably less of those panels being produced. Not the most popular class of monitor, I would imagine. After all, 21:9 is a niche spec as it is and people who get it are mostly more going in the direction of enthusiast hardware. That means 3440x1440 and above, plain and simple. That is only my interpretation, of course. Might be wrong here :)
@janiss29264 жыл бұрын
@@dynastes4938 i hate this! cause i actually really enjoy my 3440x1440 monitor... but it lacks behind regular 1440p screens in terms of panel quality in similar price range and IT'S TOO BIG - why oh why freaking all of them have to be 34 inches? it actually hurts my eyes if i sit at it all day and this doesn't happen with smaller screens... i have a feeling its the wide size to blame, maybe if i bought a curved one it would be better but im not sure.
@janiss29264 жыл бұрын
@First Last that sounds strange to me... it's TV size you're describing... i need a deeper desk in order to push back the 34 inch far enough away from my eyes to feel truly comfortable... and my desk is 72cm/28inch deep + 160cm/63inch wide and i barely have room for my speakers on the sides (they're huge tho) - it takes up alot of space! - perhaps a vesa stand will help - might get one soon! - sometimes i find myself turning my head left and right when working on it and the pixel density at 3440x1440 34'' is just ok - nothing special... so i would need a higher resolution for this size or just a smaller size screen for full comfort. - this is great if you wanna lean back with a controller though! - going for a higher resolution for gaming would be pointless unless you are very wealthy - my 2080ti is bottlenecking the system quite noticeably at this rez... and that's a damn expensive graphics card - 4k is just dumb for new games... no single gpu out there can handle it properly ... even this is often some 25% worse fps performance than regular 2560x1440 displays so yeah... check the size: pasteboard.co/IST8csZ.jpg it nearly dwarfs the corsair 275R atx case...

I had 2 different 144hz TN monitors (which i sold and got this one) and 240hz is a welcome change for fps gaming. Colors are also amazing once you tweak it. White balance is kinda wonky out-of-the-box but once its all set up, it looks gorgeous! I mean it doesnt compare to professional editing monitors, but it still does the job! I can still do minor photo and video editing. All in all, i am happy with this purchase! I was looking at buying a new 27" monitor and I gave up on MSI because they have so many 27" monitors with very similar names with VA panels and it was hard to keep them straight. Getting a display port cable in the box also seems iffy, the most common question on MSI monitors was, "Does it included a DP cable" and the answer more often than not was "no". A lot of their monitors are "esports" branded as well and that was something of a turn off for me, I don't play esports games but I do play a couple MMOs and a lot of single player games. I ended up buying a Pixio 27" PX7 Prime instead and I'm waiting for it to arrive.

OK I have this question about overshoot graphics: is the percentage absolute or relative? That is, if the transition from 0 to 26 has 38% overshoot, did it overshoot to 36 (target + 38% of 26), or did it overshoot to 123 (target + 38% of 256)? I think it's the former, in which case the values close to the diagonal are somewhat unimportant. But which is it?

VA and TN will eventually be phased out completely, with Nano-IPS catching up to TN in terms of speed and with ULED (or dual-layer LCD)finally getting released (in TVs for now) IPS can reach VA levels of contrast (at the cost of higher power consumption, which I don't mind at all), it will be OLED vs Nano-IPS in the future of PC monitors (until MicroLED is viable for smaller screens, since manufacturing limitations makes it hard to create small MircoLED screens).

We dont need higher numbers, but better quality: -27" with 1440p panel with good coloraccuracy, not oversaturated, and viewingangles - 144hz, an overdrive that reduces responsiveness to a degree that it is enough for 1440hz without (inv.) ghosting or smearing - Backlightstrobing that can be used at the same time as adaptive synq technology That would make so much more sense and i swear every gamer would want it, cause even at 360hz you can't reach more clarity than with 144-240hz and active motionblur-reduction. We cannot even reach such high FPS anyway. This sound like the new Asus TUF monitor, but i feel it is good enough. Yet, this is what the industry should aim for and set a quality standart, so these kind of monitors can be in a price range between 400-600$.

Wow, if MSI make a 27" 1440p panel that performs just as well this would be the go to monitor for most people. Remarkable.

OPTIX MAG251RX or BENQ ZOWIE XL2546 ??????

Benq has terrible colors as it is a TN panel. You won't have to switch overdrive modes with the Benq, that is the only pro to that monitor. So MSI all the way.

Unfortunately, this is not available anywhere in Europe as far as I can tell. Not sure if this is a stock issue, or if its just never been available but I can't find it anywhere...

Why do response times and/or error rates go up (sometimes by ridiculous amounts) when running high refresh monitors at lower refresh rates? It seems weird to me that a selling point for a monitor is that it doesn't perform terribly when running at refresh rates it should easily be able to handle.

I need help. I just bought a 2080 ti but I only have 1 monitor atm and it's 1080p 144hz. Should I just keep it for now and wait later this year for 1440p 240hz ips or get a monitor like this msi one?
@Rosaslav4 жыл бұрын
If you only game, then 1440p isn't necessary. It is good for having two windows next to each other, or increasing DPI resulting in sharper text.
@Vanced6364 жыл бұрын
@NO You but what about for videos? I could be able enjoy movies and KZbin in 1440p and when playing fps games, I can change to 1080p

@@Rosaslav I enjoy most of media content on the monitor tho, so lots of videos. In that case, would it be better to wait?
@Rosaslav4 жыл бұрын
@@Vanced636 No, resolution doesn't matter in movies, only picture quality.

So it looks like that for gaming at 144hz a native 144hz monitor eg. ex2510 is a better option because of the high overshoot of MAG251rx in fastest mode. I wonder what is the performance of the MSI monitor at 160hz and 180hz.

If goal is 144hz , Would you recommend using this monitor at the 144hz setting or getting a monitor that is 144hz like BenQ MOBIUZ EX2510 . Looking for least amount of ghosting/blur/ms

Please make a review with Alienware AW2521HF and this MSI. I would like to know who is better, a lot of people too so this can be good review.

You should get the newer benq 240hz in that list, people r paying a premium for that, due to pro usage. Seeing those specs against the rest in your list would be good for consumers
