Thank you for finally helping me understand the OLED care stat, something none of the big reviewers have. The first number, before hours, does not correlate to days, but rather the refresh cycles already completed. Would have never guessed! And I was also unsure wether using the on/off button as standby worked with this feature or not as I never truly turn off the monitor. Again, huge thanks!

Thank you. I was running the "Premium Color" setting and it was over saturated. I had no idea that the "User" setting - color settings were default 50, so I thought it a poor choice...until I made your recommended changes. As always your videos and articles are top notch and truely appreciated ! BTW I am using the 27 MAG model, but the settings appear the same as shown in this video for the MPG 4k model. FYI, the vibrancy and overall "pop" of the screen is quite a step above the Alienware DWF model I swapped from. Made switch for increased fps and space savings among other things. Very happy and I haven't even ran a calibration yet !

To reinforce a point made in this video - you don't want to be using emulation modes such as the 'Display P3' setting under HDR. Under HDR monitors are typically calibrated using their full native gamut and this can be mapped to content regardless of the colour space used. As is often the case, the monitor may use some of the gamut beyond the game's target to add a bit of extra vibrancy. In this case that's a bit stronger than on the Dell Alienware AW3225QF, but per the review isn't a strong enough push to really upset the original intent of the creators. It's certainly less extreme than some of the oversaturation observed under SDR using the full native gamut of the screen. Even if you prefer to tone this down slightly and try to restrict the gamut to DCI-P3 (with the 'Display P3' setting), you will have more pressing concerns than the slightly lower saturation you'll achieve for some shades. Importantly, PQ tracking is upset and there is obvious crushing of dark shades using the emulation modes under HDR - similar to if the gamma was set very high under SDR (~2.8).

So do we use User for HDR?

Hi great explanation in fact I bought the monitor after watching your video! One issue i am having is not able to play Netflix either in UHD or HDR. stucked with HD instead. This is both for Edge browser (with PlayReady enabled) as well as Netflix App. I have opted out from "Test Participation" in Netflix account setting but remains the same. Do you have any luck watching netflix in UHD + HDR on this monitor? Keep up the good work sir!
@PCMonitors8 ай бұрын
I didn't have any issues watching Netflix with HDR (or 4K) on this model. Assuming you have the correct Netflix subscription for this, could be a handshake issue. Try both HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4. Also make sure you've got HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) from Microsoft and that HDR is enabled in Windows - plus unplug any additional displays, that can cause issues.
@chongcs9998 ай бұрын
@@PCMonitors thanks! works like a charm now after purchasing the HEVC driver from store!

I don't have calibration tools to check for accuracy, but the "normal" color setting looks identical (by eye) to setting it to custom 100/100/100. I don't believe custom should really be used unless you're actually calibrating the screen. Otherwise, normal should be good enough out of the box.
@PCMonitors4 күн бұрын
The colour temperature was close but not identical on my unit, as covered in the review. 6650K by default, 6570K using 'Custom' with all channels at '100'. If you don't feel the need to adjust colour channels then you can indeed just stick to the "normal" colour setting.

Any tips on how to disable HDR? Just purchased this monitor and it's hooked up to my PS5/XBSX and cannot find the option to disable HDR. TIA
@PCMonitors25 күн бұрын
You do that on the system, not the monitor.
@MaticOnTheRiseАй бұрын
Just got it today and turned HDR on but can’t seem to turn it off in OSD any idea how to turn it off on monitor screen?
@PCMonitorsАй бұрын
Like most monitors, if it receives an HDR signal it goes into its HDR operating mode. You can't override that.
@MaticOnTheRiseАй бұрын
@ it was good and letting me mess with settings until I turned it on. Then once I did it dosent let me turn it back off. At least not on actual monitor where I turned it on at
@PCMonitorsАй бұрын
You control HDR on the system, not the monitor. There is no way to "turn on HDR" on the monitor in the OSD, it simply responds to the signal it is fed by the system... So you need to disable HDR on your system if you don't want to use it.
@MaticOnTheRiseАй бұрын
@ how would one do so on Xbox? I updated the firmware on the monitor through pc and everything but bought it for the Xbox. Would I be able to disable from Xbox? Or plug back into PC to disable? Thanks for info. New to all this
I use premium color with dp3 and I play with nvidia control increased brightness from 50 to 60
@PCMonitors9 ай бұрын
You can't use 'Premium Color' and 'Display P3' at the same time, only one at a time. Whichever preset you selected last (as explained in the video).

@PCMonitors9 ай бұрын
You need to connect the monitor via USB (PC connected to the USB-B port of the monitor) and use the MSI Gaming Intelligence app. Then press the 'cog icon' (settings) and you'll see a 'Firmware Update' option in the 'System Setting' section.
