the board is pretty awesome. I like the 5 x M.2 slots. I'm looking for a Z690 board and this could be a contender. So far I'm split between ASUS ProArt and Gigabyte Aorus (one of the many versions of that board)! However it is spendy also... Nice review. One correction, though: according to MSI's website, all of the M.2 slots are not in fact gen 4. The bottom left one is gen 5. Also, it's very common for motherboards to have PCIe lanes shared between M.2 slots and SATA. On most boards, using certain M.2 slots means you can't use SATA. Sometimes they share lanes with the PCIe slots as well. It's very important to get clear on those limitations before slotting an M.2 drive so you don't end up gimping your GPU or whatnot.

@@Davethreshold So did I but AMD plans to release their new chips in July/Aug and Intel is ready and waiting to answer w/ Raptor Lake. Normally I think the release would be Nov/Dec but Intel doesn't want to give AMD room to breath and since AMD is having chip shortage issues by going thru TSMC; Intel has a huge advantage because they have their own fabs but the downside is that Raptor Lake might skyrocket in price. AMD's 5950x has finally dropped to $600. I'm hoping the new Raptor Lake i9 13900K doesn't exceed $900-1000.

@@heyguyslolGAMING My other thought is the Alder might be selling cheaper a month later. I am TIRED of waiting. LOL If you look around, we can now find everything to build an Alder Lake, but that DDR-5 ram is still way up there. At least it's available.
@heyguyslolGAMING2 жыл бұрын
@@Davethreshold Yeah if you need it go for it. Word has it that Raptor Lake will be compatible w/ z690 mobo's so you could sell and upgrade if needed. Based on the testing ive seen from reviewers DDR4 is still the better option in most cases. Framechasers was saying that in order for DDR5 ram to start being more competitive the speeds need to start hitting around 7000-8000mhz. Currently z690 mobos top out at around 6600mhz. I think those speeds are probably another year off but not as long as what it took for DDR4. So buying a DDR5 mobo now is mostly pointless for the majority of ppl. I just despise the fact that mobo manufacturers only deck out the DDR5 mobo's and gimp the DDR4 boards. It seems much like a forced crowd funding campaign if you want a decent mobo. Thats another reason why Im waiting for Raptor Lake.

I'm diggin your "Ferrari/Lamborghini" systems videos. Great stuff for to spend big money... but having pc systems where creativity and content creation became the only thing at you must thinking of... and not the bottleneck of the system you are using. That said... i know you are mostly oriented in video creation (Premiere, AfterEffect etc) wich i use... but there is another branch of contents creation that can have benefits of the systems you show in your videos... and it's the MUSIC creation where certain application are pc-mission-critical and can stress a pc a lot! I mean ... DAW... i mean recording/tracking, i mena... using a lot of VSTi instruments (like the sountrack composers do), or using lot of effetcs plugins on a lot of tracks... There are two main bottlenecks: how many VSTi instruments the system can run in real-time... AND - most important and hard - the lowest latency you can have while you put plugins WHILE you are recording a track (let say you want to give to a performer, vocalist, etc a personal cue monitor audio with effects without the performer perceive any - or like any - latency in the headphones). This is 60% -70% on the side of the audio interface you are using (the long short: PCIe internal audio interface cards like the RMEs are the best in low latency and quality)... and 40%/30% is in the pc system you are using. And you need a lot of video monitors (2 or 3 or more) too for that application... because you have tracks timeline... mixer... plugins GUI... etc... So... why not a series of videos that show the best of the best systems and components for the music creation?
@theTechNotice2 жыл бұрын
Sounds awesome! Thanks for your input, I've been thinking about it a lot, my main bottleneck so far has been how to create a benchmark system that works both on Windows and on Mac. @Guttalaser2 жыл бұрын
@@theTechNotice well... i'm not the best on the Mac side (i use iOS mobile stuff just because are the best in MUSIC apps). So... i'm a pc (old!) guy... but many composers and music genius nowdays are PC guys too (Zimmer, JunkieXL... and so on). So... i'm not the best to find an in-between benchmark for both the worlds. Anyway... your videos are in the track of "push the limits" of a system selecting the best hardware on the market today... so... why not some videos about that?

Review was good but missing one thing :-P I just happened to come accross this on amazon and saw 2 ethernet ports and the listing did not mention why. So I started searching to see why there are 2 gigabit ports. Does it work like a load balancing or failover? That would be awesome. I think I would look go for this to build a PC that would run 27/7. I switched from desktop to Laptop 3 years ago. I keep my Laptop on all the time like my PC and the fan conked off. The bearings just melted I guess. So Now I put my laptop to sleep when I sleep.(As I grow older I slowly stopped downloading gigabits of stuff that I would never use and I had to keep my PC on to keep seeding them for ratio ;-) ) I have not kept up with motherboards for long cause I live in a city where you only can buy what it the fast moving stuff. Now online almost everything is available. I think it is a pretty big feature to have a dual wifi ports that have failover or load balancing or is this something that has been around for some time now.
