Beyond this being one of the best MST3K shorts ever, the actual content here is fascinating. SEVENTY YEARS AGO, people were bitching about younger folk "not working hard enough." The more things change, etc.

I was in awe seeing that host segment back when I was in third grade, I came home from school one day, and my Mom watch watching this episode one night, I wasn't paying attention, just playing Mario Kart Wii and doing schoolwork, and then when I heard some piano music, I immediately bolted to the living room, and in in deep amazement with the hole segment, even getting a couple of laughs over the "zeroes" part, when it was over, I was like "Why did they end that!? I love it!" At first my mother was in shock that I saw her watching that segment and she asked me "You loved it?!" I mean, she loved it too, but didn't pay attention to me seeing the musical. Millennials these days! They don't work as hard we did back in the day! Oh wait everyone's been complaining about everyone since the beginning of time.
@WalkerRileyMC5 жыл бұрын
Save that Millennials DO work as hard as the Boomers claim they once did...often two or three jobs just to pay rent and buy food. Let's face it, history has shown Boomers nearly had everything handed to them. They were able to have one person work a 9-5 5 day job and be able to support a spouse, two kids, a pet, buy a car and house and still live comfortably. Millennials get the shaft from Boomers who think they're lazy and from an economy that is set up for them to fail no matter what they do.
@kimbaptempura40735 жыл бұрын
@@WalkerRileyMC LOL - RIIIIIIGHT! Spoken like a true millenial bubble wrap cry baby.
@AmericasComic5 жыл бұрын
@@kimbaptempura4073 You are wrong, Walker is entirely correct, and it's backed up by data. From a USA Today article "Millennials earn 20% less than Boomers did at same stage of life" "-[M]illennials earn 20 percent less than boomers did at the same stage of life, despite being better educated, according to a new analysis of Federal Reserve data by the advocacy group Young Invincibles. - Millennials have half the net worth of boomers. Their home ownership rate is lower, while their student debt is drastically higher. - People born in 1950 had a 79 percent chance of making more money than their parents. That figure steadily slipped over the past several decades, such that those born in 1980 had just a 50 percent chance of out-earning their parents." This isn't an issue of "bubble wrap" or "cry babies," the job market in America is shrinking thanks to deindustrialization and automation. You can make this economic situation about how you don't like the personalities of young people and find them whiney...but that's not productive and does nothing to address the major issues going on here. And this economic gap isn't just a young person's problem, its a problem that effects everybody, as our Millenial tax dollars are going to be paying the generation before us' social security - and if that's weakened, then that's not fun for anybody. I don't like looking at things as "Boomer" or "Millennial" - I think it's a term used to divide people and to breed contempt. Boil us down, and we all basically want the same thing and whatever problems we have we get through them by working together. When you're hating a group of people, it doesn't give you any power to fix the problems on the table, it takes away power. And, if anything, if all us Millenials are "bubble wrap" "cry babies,"...then a stark reality is that you're the one who raised us. So if you point the finger at us, then you have a share of responsibility in creating something you hate. And to deflect that criticism would be hypocritical as your complaint about Millenials is that they're taking responsibilities for themselves.

One of the best jobs I've ever had was appointment setting for general contracting jobs. I would get the contractor through the door for a small job, and if they liked the job he did he get a bigger job and I'd get the commission for both, coming away with $500.00 to $700.00 paychecks every week. This was in the 90's.All went well until the owner of the company decided to bring an "expert" into the phone room to "improve things" He asked us the question about how we are getting sales and I proceeded to tell him what I was doing then he said that I gotta change my approach. "Huh??? Look if it ain't broke you don't fix it!!!" "Doesn't matter, we're going to do it my way." Needless to say that was the end of that run. Now whenever I see this short I can only think of, "Yeah but we got the freaking contract!!!".

But seriously, TEN CARS? Was there really ever a time when people bought a new car every other year?

So…..I’m driving thru Detroit and my exit is closed. Ughh, I take the other exit and I still can’t get on the freeway. So I find myself driving down East Grand Blvd and happen to look over. What did I see??? A big beautiful building with a large “Jam Handy Studios” lit up on the front. Yes, the Godfathers of informative shorts is right here in my very own city and I never knew it. Apparently the studio is still intact and popular for venues and weddings. I’m…,,.going…….to die. Young man’s fancy, the selling wizard, prom: it’s a pleasure and many more were filmed right there. Greatest day ever.

Gotta be the best of the MST3K shorts. And their best musical number, too.

1:30. Lovely brick homes in Detroit just south of 7 Mile Rd. 18961 was my friend's house number, 5 houses south of 7. I bet those streets were near Livernois.

The cars before the war had different pedal assignments. The brake and gas were in different places, depending on the brand you bought. It was how the ensured product loyalty.

A great episode here, and the middle 'Host Segment' interlude is possibly the best of any MST3K ship-board skits. OMFG!!! hahahahahahaaaaaa
