Always fascinated by the mother's first outfit every time I watch it. I've never seen anything like it in any 50s media. The dress looks normal but why the wizard medallion and the lace on the head.
@MegCazalet5 ай бұрын
She has a medallion-looking-thing on her second dress too, on the V of her neckline. I kinda wonder if it might be a pin for alumni of colleges and universities and institutes back then, worn when visiting their Alma Mater, to Identify their standing or even specific class. And daughters who went to college back then often went to their mother’s schools. One of my favorite books is The Group, which is about fresh grads from Vassar in the early 30s as they set on on their adult lives, and some of their mothers had been to Vassar too, or Wellesley, Smith, or any of the Seven Sisters, etc. It was my grandmother’s copy. She went to university in the late 30s, so it’s like reading part of her life. ANYWAY, that’s just a possible theory. My university had pins for their Houses (called Colleges there, which is confusing when I say I went to X University and was at Y College). Just a theory.

@@Deosgaeno Well, I meant to type Tom Hanks. There's probably a porn star named Tom Hands. The first tim I ever saw him (Hanks, that is) was in Bosom Buddies with Peter Scolari. It was an early-80s TV series in whtich they played a couple of guys who dressed in drag so they could pass as women and stay in a women's-only apartment complex. Not exactly Three's Company, but It was pretty bad. Tom Hanks in drag? As bad as you'd expect.
