I agree that was a quick count. George was about out of the round, I hate when fighters aren't aware of the time left in the round. Had George made it to the next round would he have knocked out Ali? Would Ali have continued the rope a dope until he eventually put Foreman down? We'll never know because Foreman blew it with 13 seconds left in round 8. My guess is Ali would have went on to win, he has Foreman completely gassed and his punches had no heat on them like in the 1st 3 rounds. Ali fought a brilliantly planned fight and it worked out perfectly. Flawless Victory Ali.

He punched himself out.Ali made him wear himself out instead of fighting Foremans fight.Foreman was both dazed and confused because of exhaustion, confusion, wounded pride& embassement( Ali was older than he and hadn't fount in a while). It was a masterful tactical fight on Ali' s part.

If you watch the fight again you'll see Ali hit George with right-hand leads. It's how Ali started the first round and it's a bit of an insult to a fighter. Then he started in with the taunts and then leaning against the ropes. The Ali camp knew that George was pretty good at cutting off the ring but if you got him excited he'd come after you. So Ali provoked a charge and Dundee keep him charging by yelling 'get off the ropes'. All George could see and hear was that he had Ali in trouble.

Michael Tomolonis , you'd be confused too if you've been hit in the head with stinging accurate combinations all night long. The announcer said Ali was head hunting from the opening bell.
