How is competitive eating allowed if this is the kind of risk involved? That goes way back before the mukbang trend…
@spaceracer233 ай бұрын
Successful competitive eaters have diet and exercise routines. Joey Chestnut has to burn the calories or the added fat makes it difficult to stretch his stomach. Completive eating also has a time limit. They don't sit there and eat for hours. They get, at most, 10 minutes. I heard many years ago of another girl dying from her stomach bursting. Apparently what happens with extreme binge eaters is that their stomach gets extremely stretched, which then puts 'stretch mark' type scarring in the stomach walls, which reduces the elasticity. Then they binge again, putting new scars into other areas of the stomach wall, until eventually the stomach loses it's ability to stretch evenly and adequately, and a weak area will burst. This girl from that documentary, they found at the time of her death that her stomach was nearly the volume of half of her torso, which is probably 6-8x the volume of a normal stomach. Sounds like a horrible way to die.

I have severe GI issues (I’m fed through a feeding tube, and require IV’s for hydration) and I cannot even fathom how much pain this poor girl was in 💔 mukbangs of this caliber should absolutely be censored by KZbin. It’s incredibly dangerous content for people to watch.
@PrisonBecky3 ай бұрын
I really struggle with the idea of KZbin interfering with content to "protect viewers" or whatever because they either 1. Do too much. or 2. Don't do enough. Since they don't know how to rectify this, it would seem the best practice would be truly hands off until they can have actual trained HUMANS reviewing the content. This thing content creators have to do with editing words is absolutely ridiculous, meanwhile there's all kinds of trash available. I don't know if my comment makes much sense right now as my brain is trying to leave the building. Anyway, LOVE your content.

I’m calling the VA tomorrow to see about getting into a dietary therapy/weight loss program. I’ve binged so much once I had stomach pain for over two hours.

I've never understood mukbangs. Every time I've come across one, I can't help but think of the times I couldn't afford to eat for a day or two and the people that still can't. Meanwhile here's a youtuber on my screen eating enough for 5 in one sitting. It just gets to me.

the upsetting thing is that if everyone was responsible doing mukbang it would be great, it's just supposed to be a video that lets peopl pretend they're sharing a meal with someone else; that they're not eating alone. That's wonderful. It can really help people. But this is just reckless and upsetting. I'm disappointed.

22 lbs?!? I'm fat and I can only eat 1 lb at most! I'm a fan of the mukbang videos, but not the crazy ones (like Nikacado). Watching other people eat things that I've cut out of my diet for health reasons has weirdly helped me stick to a healthy diet. I'm so disturbed that it has gone this far.
@dutchik51073 ай бұрын
1 Ib really isnt that much. Its what? 500 grammes? A portion of vegtables should be 200 grams. A typical rice portion is like 75, but cooked thats like 200 and then then some protein source. Sure many people don't eat enough vegtables. For potatoes like 300 grams is a normal portion. So then if you ate the advised amount of vegtables, you wouldnt even have weight left over for protein or like desert! Eating a single pound of food for a meal is fine. Well within if not under the dietary guidelines of my country (the netherlands). It just sounds like a lot. But it isn't if you pick healthy slightly calorie dense foods. (Like. I can eat that amount in a salad. But i fill my salads with loads of stuff, and i find it delicious so i can eat a huge fucking bowl of it. But most healthy people cannot eat such volumes always)

I am 16 have been in hospital for anorexia before, and have met maybe one or two people with binge eating disorders, its disgusting how much they make them less of a priority. They are not treated with the same seriousness and respect as the rest of us, and they automatically get to do things like "exercise" and stuff which we are not allowed to do. I can see what they are doing there. And the way they treat people with binge eating is disgusting. Like during covid, I myself, maybe didn't binge eat, but had an addiction of eating a lot to drown out my problems or to just make me feel happier which could maybe be one very valid reason to develop binge eating disorder, but felt bad about it later which is what led to anorexia, but some people cannot stop it which leads to a different eating disorder, one just as aseriosu, deadly and worth of health. They are brusehd off as the least serious since it is apparently the most common, but sometimes it can be the most deadly and detrimental, not just for the body, but mentally it is hell the cycle they go through, its not a lack of willpower or some shit, its genuine suffering and mental illness. They should never be treated to fatphobia or not treated seriously at all, like a bursting stomach sounds horrible but does happen. I was introfduced to a horrible case that opened by eyes from an Australian eating disorder channel (Mia someone I think) and it was a "shock website" of horrific stories that disguises itself as pro ed but shoes you the horrific reality of eds. One image, TW VERY GRAPHIC" Was a body of a young girl, who had so much food in a binge cycle, was going to purge but then she died as her stomach burst over the toilet, desperate to get it out. Her body was bruised and I more and I don't want to say anymore it makes me want to cry. But that is the result of some binge eating disorders. Whoever just brushes them off, fuck you. All eating disorders need help and are worthy of love and care, you are all loved out there and you will get through this!!!

Several years ago my mental health was at its worst, therefore my undiagnosed ARFID was at its worst too. I could barely eat anything because of it and so I lost a lot of weight and my stomach got used to very small amounts of food. When I started getting better, and my appetite began returning to normal, it took months of slowly eating more for my stomach to be able to accommodate it. At first I would eat until I wasn’t hungry but that was so incredibly painful that many times I’d be keeled over or have to lay in bed for a couple hours on pain meds to get through digesting some of the food. When I learned that I couldn’t just immediately go back to normal portions, I would finish every meal still feeling hungry, but knowing my stomach was full and I couldn’t eat any more. During that period I’d have moments of weakness where I would get fed up of waiting and I’d essentially ‘binge’ (in the sense I’d eat far more than my body could handle at the time) and end up either in extreme pain or vomiting half of it back up because my stomach just couldn’t hold it. I still remember how painful that was, I cannot fathom the amount of pain this poor woman must have been in at the end. I remember how awful I felt besides the pain too: heart racing, warm and sweaty, just the sheer energy it took my body to try to process all that food. What a horrific way to go.

Mukbang's been around for a looong time on the internet. At first it was just people eating normally, and wanting company while they ate. Then it became this spectacle of obscene over-indulgence in more recent years (possibly once it reached western audiences). Even Nikocado started off fairly tame, it just devolved over time.. Now it's almost a competition. Truly horrifying...

I watch mukbangs because I like the food the people eat, I want to eat them myself. They look so appetizing. I also like the sounds certain foods make when they bite them. Like fried food makes really satisfying crunchy sounds. Mukbang is a nice gateway to be introduced to foods from other cultures too. I've seen foods from other countries I have never heard of before that I know want to try. I think as viewers of mukbang we should keep it simple and not go crazy. We should not encourage or push the mukbangers to eat so much and gain excessive weight that can lead to death like this unfortunate women. Mukbang should be fun and healthy.

I turned 25 just a few days ago, not that it matters, but it feels just so sad. I think the content in general is alright, what's wrong is when you have a bad relationship with food. Watching the content and creating the content is okay, as long as everyone involved is having a healthy relationship with food itself. However, we don't really have a system that activery helps with prevention of bad eating habits. In fact, social media can promote unhealthy eating.

the thing is, feederism CAN be done safely if its carefully monitored. Kinks are kinks, and they can be navigated safely if people know what they're doing. But some people take them to extremes. This should have never become a trend - because oh my god...what an awful way to go.
