Plastic man was someone I never took seriously until I actually learned more about him. A reformed criminal with one of the most busted powers in all of DC and he chooses to be lighthearted and brighten people’s days when saving them. still one of my favorite plastic man moments is from injustice comics. Where he tries to open a door, someone tells him that he won't be able to because he doesn't have the key, and plastic man just puts his hand into the door, opens it, pulls out his hand and shows middle finger shaped like a key to the camera and says "Hey look. 3:15 Speaking of the Blackest Night, I love how Nekron brought back basically every known deceased character, no matter if they weren't even fighters, like Dick Grayson's parents or Alexandra DeWitt (Kyle Rayner's girlfriend, who ended up dismembered inside a refrigerator). Anyway, it's pretty amazing how Nekron turned really powerful characters (like Golden Age Superman, Harbinger, or Alexander Luthor Jr.) who, during the first Crisis, seemed almost like gods into just obedient putrid puppets. That shows what can be done with someone who is no longer alive.

When he was shattered for 3000 years, the JL simply gathered all of his particles and put them back together. This is where Batman said that, Plastic Man is hiding an insane level of power and generally, he was completely fine, since being crazy got boring after 1000 years. He's incredibly inconsistent overall, sometimes he can tear or be ripped apart, sometimes just hitting him works. Sometimes he can fight fire monsters, sometimes he melts. I like to think he can stop himself from melting when he focuses hard enough. I love Plas and the idea he's incredibly powerful, but because he's indestructible and goofy he just messes around with everyone. He still wouldn't beat Superman, because it's like a B or C list character against the focal point of the DC universe, but he'd probably have the best shot at actually being a threat to him (minus frost breath lol).

He has complete control over his molecular structure, down to the individual molecule. He is actually immune to intense heat and cold, or at least insanely resistant. But his weakness is, is a little different. Its the drastic change in temp that fucks with him. So rapidly being frozen for example its the rapid speed of the freeze that turns him into a frozen solid state. Eventually, his molecules will adjust to the new phase state and he will be able to thaw and move around normally. So sure if you dropped him into Antarctica he would freeze maybe for a day or two but eventually his body would adjust and he would be fine and move normally. Same with if you dropped him into a volcano, he would melt down for sure but eventually he would adjust and reform.

Plastic Man is actually one of the most powerful heroes in the DC multiverse. And just like any other character like him, he is VERY underrated. Although the reason why Plastic Man is so underrated can be also attributed to the fact he is considered a funny or comedic character; his comic debut was, fittingly enough, in Police Comics #1, the very first superhero comic book in history to incorporate humor to its main plot. So because of this, Plastic Man is usually seen by writers as a joke only to be used for ridiculous or hilarious stories, which is very unfair.

Man that's a fairly different origin story than I remember for Plastic Man. The one I remember was after his heist gone wrong, Plastic Man wakes up in a monastery called "Rest Haven" (which Plastic Man mishears at first, giving us the lovely line of "Heaven? The coldest day for the place *I'm* going to is 100 degrees!") and is cared for by the monks that live there. Due to the kindness of the Rest Haven monks, Plastic Man resolves to make the most of the second chance he's been given and becomes a super hero. Of course comics being what they are I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was just some other continuity than the one in the video.

this is the second time i've heard about a neiche character being near omega level, but i still think molecule man is JUST that bit more op. being able to control not molecules, but the ATOMIC STRUCTURE of ANYTHING is pretty broken. the only difference is his mental state is in complete tatters from essentially being able to control the multiverse (even galactus notices him as his second biggest threat behind franklin richards), but a fight between these two would go so hard

Anyone else remember watching Plas on Saturday mornings in the 70s? Everyone has videos on the old Spider-Man, FF, Thor from the 60s or Superfriends and Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends in the 70s & 80s, X-Men and Batman in the 90s and other superhero toons but nobody seems to remember Plastic Man having his own solo show.

You got the jokes wrong, and major plot point wrong in the Flashpoint comic. Heatwave doesn't double cross him. Heatwave was going to crash the floating prison they were inside into Detroit, because it's where cyborg is from and he screwed him over earlier on in the story. Plastic man basically goes "nah man those are innocent people" and attempts to stop him, getting melted in the process. Also, the jokes are: Lock up is as blind as a bat" as he stabs lockup in the eyes. And "and sportsmaster?....has no heart" nothing about plastic man not having a heart. Context matters people. Misinformation is everywhere.

Batman himself has said that Plastic Man is one of the most powerful beings in all existence. Basically the only thing stopping Plastic Man from being either one of the greatest heroes or most dangerous villains, is his mentality.

People don’t talk about DCeased plastic man enough, and even though he became basically a dark souls final boss in that series I feel like they definitely could have done more with such a cosmic horror like idea. An indestructible zombie that can shape shift into almost any form. Could stretch his body across entire countries and stab any survivors to infect them. Could eat entire cities to grow his mass and become an even bigger threat. A threat you couldn’t even permanently get rid of besides throwing the entire planet into the sun.

I still don't agree with Flash being "caught off guard" and being able to be suffocated. There's no way he wouldn't be able to react fast enough to just phase his body through plas and escape in a fraction of a second. Any other hero and I could buy it but Flash? It makes the LEAST sense of all the heros.
@jasonchiu272
@jasonchiu272 Жыл бұрын
My thought is that while Plastic Man and Flash were in arms reach of each other, Plastic Man secretly phased part of himself into Flash, so much so that the moment Flash realized what Plas was doing it was too late. He has been shown to inject himself into people stealthily, so that is one possibility.

If I'm remembering correctly in Dark Knight returns or rises I think it was. Plastic Man was also turned into an infinite "free" energy source, and then was completely insane when released and just went on a rampage. Could be a fever dream though, hard to keep track of this stuff after a certain point.
@DanSilverhound
@DanSilverhound 11 ай бұрын
It was the Flash that was turned into an energy source, but Plas was contained in a pressurized chamber and almost went on a psycho rampage until Batman gave him a lover's tap to snap him out of it. But the sentiment remained the same, they all regard Plastic Man as a God tier being and Batman knows how lucky they all are that he chooses to be a goofy good guy.

Injustice will forever hold the position of the best Plastic Man moment. When Cyborg tells him the cell door in front of him is impossible to open, he sticks his hand in and unlocks it within seconds, pulls his hand out and sticks up his middle finger in the shape of a key while saying "Look at that! I found the key!"
