I don't think it's input delay, but rather there's a half second buffer window so if you pressed something else the game makes you do that action. They're letting us change this buffer in an update as it was left out on accident.

This is why you have to be more cautious on spending money on mircotransactions in live services as if they ever shut down the server, the money you put in is gone. This happen when MGS4 had an online component and people bought i think it was the 20 dollar dlc just for the multi and they shut down near the end of the life of the ps3 and you did not get your 20 dollars back. I really think they should have just released the game at 40- 60 dollar and made other characters dlc but they wouldnt have made money from selling you over half the roster.

I also wanna say as a small nitpick regarding the rifts, you can't leave matches mid-fights or retry them right away if you lose or fail to meet one of the conditions to win whatever those XP points lead to. I felt like I was nearly going insane having to go through a lengthy loading screen, holding down A to skip over text boxes, then go through another loading screen over and over again just to repeat a fight that might not even last long or I happen to fail a condition again, it's such a minute part but it makes repeating rift battles extremely annoying and tedious.

A few of the things they took from overwatch in overwatch 2 were taken for some reason or other. Free loot boxes aren't really profitable when it's f2p and if they cost money it would be scummy and annoying (cough, Apex). Coins aren't hard to get anyways unlike in multi versus. The stat medals weren't really necessary in the first place, and was more of an excuse some people used when they were underperforming. I don't see any issues with current leaderboard showing everyone's general stats anyways. 2nd tank was removed because que times, no one wanted to play tank (and as a tank main, people still don't want to)

People don't realize how important slowing things down is at higher levels of play. It used to be that everything was virtually unpunishable if you knew what you were doing, now there is much more weight to your decisions, the game still plays fast just not the entire match. I think slightly slowing it down would have been fine for higher level of play. Most of the issue with high level multiversus was airdodge in neutral and in combos. I think if they had introduced slightly slower speeds with this air dodge change i think it would do volumes for the game. Part of the joy of platform fighters is the movement and if it’s this slow it’s hard to play for a long period of time. That doesnt mean it needs wavedashing but especially in a cartoon heavy game it should feel good to move with your character rather than fighting the gravity of the game. Great point tho, most people def dont think about how unviable the competitive scene was before

After playing multiversus I’ve noticed a multitude of things. 1. Because if the slow pace, me personally I don’t mind it. However, it definitely punishes anyone who plays any sort of brawler. The amount of people I’ve encountered who just run, spam the up special, or any sort of cheesy combo that rewards mindless play rather than a strategic, and mindful play 2. Going off the Xbox servers you mentioned…holy hell. I’ve been disconnected probably over 50 times now? I don’t have a PC YET, and it’s just sad to see that somehow a beta was better off then it was now 3. I will say, the badges are still in the game, but the game bugs out and glitches every time you’d want to see the rewards you get. 4. I’m right here with you when I played the beta day 1, waited a year, and here playing it now. Somehow, someway, some characters just feel a lot more broken, or some just utterly pointless. Game has a major balancing issue Sorry for this being so damn long, but I did have a deep passion for this game, and it feels SO MUCH worse. Frame drops, packet loss, loss of content, you name it. Being a console player is genuinely such a damn pain these days.

I don't know if you'll read this but 2 different bosses in the rift mode has soft lock glitches. In Jason's fight sometimes the gem you need to break to damage him will never break, no matter how much damage it takes. And in the Robot boss fight, if you use Jason and use his down special. THE BOSS GETS MOVED OFF SCREEN AND THE FIGHT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE.

The button spam is real, all the top tier characters use the same fast unblockable moves over and over to juggle u around the entire match, and if your character doesn’t have one of those moves good luck! Now with the addition of samurai jack it’s even worse, every match has one and they can slash up the entire stage, but they won’t nerf him until the season is over and everyone bought the battle pass just to use his OP move set.

I clicked on this video because i thought it would be someone crying about how that game isnt what they wanted and that makes it bad and i loves those videos, but you make some really good points in this. I dont agree with all of them, but i can still see where your coming from. One of my biggest issues with the game (which im surprised you didnt mention) was the fighter mastery. In the beta you unlock character specific items like emotes, skins, badges, etc., but in the full release there is (at least for me) very little incentive to level up characters because all that cool stuff has been moved to the store.

While most of this I agree with, some of it I don’t, but the main issue for me is the characters. This game is 1000% going to fail purely because of it and it’s sad. People were excited for this due to the characters. You could play as Jake the dog on a team with the iron giant, against Batman and shaggy, and that’s what made people excited. Yet the characters they add for the full release is a lacklustre amount, and 0 of them are going to make anyone excited. The only one who would come close is Jason, but for new players you have to pay for him. Why add the banana guard over someone like Ben 10 who is one of the most requested characters. While the banana guard is surprisingly good and fun to play, the key word is surprisingly. Nobody is going to return or become excited for the banana guard. Even the most hardcore adventure time fan wouldn’t be, as Jake and Finn already exist, which likely made them excited for the original beta. But why would they return? The game has literally unlimited potential, and the key to it is the characters. Yet they have failed on the most basic standpoint. I don’t care for what they have planned. It could be amazing stuff. But they needed to grab people within this first couple days, and they haven’t

Honestly the characters they added are fine. Joker is extremely espressive and some his lines are brutal, and the addition itself was a given. Jason is also really fun, and we still got 2 more characters that have to be revealed this season. If they put characters that are obvious, people are gonna complain they aren't being original. If they put crazy weird characters, people will complain they should've put the obvious ones first. Either way i really doubt that's the problem with the game personally.

Jason is ez if you had open beta (which i did), Agent Smith is nigh impossible without weeks of work, Joker is a whopping 6k fighting currency for some reason. It legit takes over 2 days to get Joker. The game's hype came from these characters that we can't use. And Banana Guard is fine ig, but is just a weird addition.

The speed is better. Before some characters were just insanely faster than other characters, there were no punishes. If shaggy wanted to circle the map just dodging you forever and you were like Gizmo, you couldn't do shit. Now speed is tied to dodge cancelling. It can still feel fast, but it takes some effort and resource management. Everything else though totally agree on, what the fuck were they thinking?

I appreciate this unbiased and informative review. This is quite disheartenjng cuz I had such a great time with the beta but then the Velma police car censorship made me raise an eyebrow cuz such things are always a big red flag to me. Call this shoddy release confirmation bias I suppose. It is at least reassuring that the devs will try to turn things around. Recent releases of works like Velma and Space Jam 2 and the scrapping of that Wile E. Coyote movie do not exactly give me much faith in Warner Bros. products as of late and I would hate for a game I enjoyed so much to fall into that same pit of disappointment.

I mean Ngl, as much as I like the game there are a couple of issues I have with it. One was the network error which was already mentioned. The others were the combos which I personally feel is unbalanced, no ranking system since it’s harder for new players to match up with people who didn’t play the beta version which doesn’t make it fair in the slightest, and the fact in the rifts, there’s no try again option and are forced to exit and manually reselect the round.

When I play online with my friends we ALWAYS get kicked out of the game. Most of the time we don't even load in the arena. So the game is completely unplayable since the game is basically best enjoyed when playing duos. This makes me really sad cause I have the battlepass for free, because I played in the beta, and I want to progress in it but also I don't want to play this game...
