His stall reminds me of when I was a kid and there'd be this lady with a GIANT wok set up on the sidewalk half a block away from my house. She cooked and sold fried chicken and given that it was such a luxury at the time, I'd save my lunch money from school to buy from her stall. For a few precious minutes, it made me not feel like I was poor.

"I don't hate this job" Such a funny dude. Can't seem to remember the date of anything, zero ambition to grow his business. Basically just seems surprised anyone wants to talk to him about his little menchikatsu shop. Refreshingly honest and humble; so often Japanese chefs are presented as these genius artisans producing works of art. He's just making basic, humble food and (kind of) enjoying it

Not quite, they use "katsuretsu" which basically translates to 'Cutlet' but means breaded meat more often than not. Different types have different names, Chicken is often just called 'Kastu' while pork is called Tonkatsu. 'Menchi' means Minced so Menchi-Katsu means 'Minced Cutlet'.
@TheRubyrott3 жыл бұрын
@@Ishlacorrin Well, as far as I know a cutlet is a "Schnitzel" for it means "something you can cut", literally. A "Schnitzel" is or can be breaded as well.
