I like how the writers slip in bits of dialogue that show us how experienced and well-established of a cop Van Buren really is. She made that connection to the paint factory almost immediately and she was right, that's where the murder took place. She really knows the ins and outs of that city like the back of her hand, I wish they had more dialogue showing how good of a Lieutenant she really is.

It’s called exposition- used in place of action shots in order to compress the timeline. It’s just dialogue that the writers put there, not a reflection of the actors abilities. No disrespect to Merkerson.

Part of that might be because there is so much TV and movie work done in New York that when folks might see something odd like that, they just assume it is part of some production. Depending on what and how something is being filmed, cameras and crew might not be visible right away as a less expensive production maybe wants the street scene to look "natural"

Originally, minorities had difficulty getting registered to vote, primarily because you had to know how to read and write and sometimes they would ask ridiculous questions, such as how many marbles were in a jar. More than 70 years ago, access to education wasn't widespread in the states so it wasn't uncommon that minorities couldn't read and write. My great grandmother never learned to read and barely knew how to sign her name. She was a proud woman and we never made her feel bad about it. We just helped her out as necessary.

there's always switchers between elections, it happens in any country where elections are held and people felt dissatisfied with the previous elected officials, it happens to people who vote blue and who vote red, it's normal

@@gottesurteil3201 Is it though? People can swing to a different candidate during the time the one they voted in is president. Trump hit a lot of points that people who are more on the middle or leaning right would go for, especially when Hilary was the alternative and she was made out to be this demon of a woman.
