www.ultralightflyer.com - If you’re a lightsport aircraft or homebuilt aircraft owner, builder, or enthusiast, you won’t want to miss the 1st annual DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase, set for November 3-5, 2016, at the DeLand (Florida) Municipal Airport … where homebuilts will share center stage with some of the finest manufacturers of recreational aircraft from around the country and world.
Nearly 100 exhibitors from as far away as Maine to Washington State and the Czech Republic to Brazil have confirmed their participation in Showcase 2016. They will be displaying and demonstrating a wide variety of recreational aircraft, including fixed-wing airplanes and ultralights, gyroplanes, powered parachutes, powered paragliders, and trikes…and their associated equipment.
They are all coming together the first week of November to highlight the Showcase’s focus on flying for fun. The three-day show will also feature educational forums, workshops, EAA’s Charlie Becker as a keynote speaker, and food concessions. In addition, demonstration flights will be available all day, every day.
A special Homebuilts Display will feature up to 50 aircraft and their proud owners and builders each day. Anyone wishing to participate - for one day or the whole event - is asked to complete an online Homebuilts Registration at www.sportaviationvillage.com/homebuilt-display-parking-registration/.
The Homebuilts Display will be located adjacent to the Exhibitors Venue, providing easy access for Showcase attendees to view the various homebuilt aircraft that fly in each day.
DeLand Sport Aviation Administrator Jana Filip said, “DeLand Municipal Airport is committed to being a center for recreational aircraft owners and enthusiasts, and we are excited to welcome homebuilders to fly their aircraft in for this special display.
We know that people interested in building an aircraft enjoy viewing what others have done with their projects, so creating the opportunity for such interactions is a natural for the Showcase.”

It might be an LSA under the new rules.... new rules are 4 seats, up to 3600lbs and 150kts. Under the new rules the Cessna 172 is an LSA Aircraft.

The announcement of the NEW rules was premature - my sources indicate that they are 4 to 6 years away! The other thing is that it was announced you could get a 172 into the rules! NOT unless you can find a way to get it to STALL at 45, loaded! The Ultralight Flyer
