The torx bolts with the nipple are called a security tip. Available in a big bundle at harbor freight for a few dollars.

Nic work man. At least transmission is nice and clean now.
@DKTractors8 жыл бұрын
+CT moog yeah I couldn't believe I didn't check the bolt earlier probably would have saved a lot of time. I'm just happy it runs again and I don't have to get rid of it

I love your attitude, it worked,,and that's what count,but I know sometimes,, when stuff is 15+yo, things break,,,always try to eliminate steps,,,I only took out .5 quart or so,,,I am eager to see my results,,,thanks again for getting me off couch, min riding mower nowadays is $1k

+Kevin Reilly no problem I'll be honest I like quick fixes but I like fixing things once more :)

That mower was right around $1200 18 years ago in 2000, the reciepts in with the manual for that same tractor.

I still do fully comprehend the importance of the bellows. Even if I do a 50% oil exchange, there SB a significant improvement. I would rather do a bang bang exchange once a year than deal with 15yo bolts and pulling the axle. I will let you know how it goes.

Great video. My Murray looks just like this one. Any idea what year and model yours is? I don't know and when I'm trying to order parts I'm guessing

@@jeffreyhaarsager3287 I have a 42572x8a. 20HP 46series opposed (ancient engine, bought at HD in 2001). The Engine just blew. May replace it with a new 20 or 22hp OHV twin for $500 or so. A few years ago a bolt got loose in the trans and locked it up. I opened it and fixed that. A new twin engine tractor is 3 grand with tax at a big box now. May be worth to fix.

Just got a used one that has trans trouble. Do you need to remove the mower deck to pull out the transaxle?

I have the same issue, do you have to poke a hole in the tape?I think its for vacuum to hold the bellows in place.

Thank you for the reply. I have a different trans, its a peerless tuff torque but from 97, 98. Way different setup like the fwd and rev and trying to find that 4 hole cover, I had it out and changed the oil to no avail. Its in a 2514H Massey Ferguson, know anything about these?

I just ripped that exact tractor apart. Good engine, good Trans, good rims and tires, good deck. The tractor itelf was a big hunk of junk, hood was shot etc. But the parts are all good selling them now. Anyone need a good trans or 17 hp v twin, let me know.

I have the same Murray mower, exactly like yours. I have not got it running just yet. Could you tell me the mower model number ? The one on my mower is missing. It is located on the back or under the seat. Every time I go to get parts for it they ask, "what's your model number. " I tell them all I have is a faded out white sticker. When you raise the seat up there is a small lever. Is that what you move to release the transmission so it will roll ? It did not seem to matter which way, to left in the hook or to the right. When I pushed it over to the right it was hard but it would roll forward. But not reverse. So I took the belt off and put a socket attached to a drill. Put it on top of the pulley to the transmission. Held down the pedal to go forward. Then I spun it around it inched forward. The drill is a good bit slower than the engine but at least it moved. But it would Not go into reverse. I have not taken the transmission out yet. So I may just be over looking the model number. But i did find a sticker Peerless 2000-002A 10520096 .
