Can we all agree 68-69 model cars doge, mercury, Plymouth, Ford, chevy and AMC had some beautiful body style model cars during them years. They wasn't playing.

In 1987 I bought a 69 camaro ss with a 396 and a 4 speed for $400. It was crazy fast. Being 18 at the time I was interested in how well it would go and not how well it would stop. The guy from whom i bought the car neglected to mention the brakes didnt quite work- but I figured that out pretty quickly. My first drag strip pass (the stoplight at 27th and main in hutchinson ks) ended with me using the emergency braking method. Three hours of owning that car and I wrapped it around a telephone pole.

Absolutely beautiful. My best friend had a 69 Camero, he rebuilt a Vette engine put bin it, had it painted a beautiful orange. Then doing some final tuning, he forgot to tighten the fan, it came off, straight thru the fender, like you opened it with a can opener.

i bought A California model it was the 1969 SS 350 with the RS package all original w paperwork 15K ON HER, i drove It back to Wichita Kansas from Seattle Washington pulling 1964 Covair Spyder. In my dads garage it became a MONSTER. FROM HOT ROD MAGAZINE BY THE NUMBERS-we pulled engine, dumped all the smog stuff, blueprinted, ported, polished, added AP Headers, Elidebrock Hi- rise intake, Holley 780 with vac secondaries, corvette Cam 447 lift 342 duration, new rockers, springs , lifters, guides , push-rods , MT Hi-rise valve-covers to accommodate the bigger lift, kept and ran stock 373 12bolt.. posi.. added NEW HD CLUTCH, it produced 500HP at the rear wheel when it was dynoed, the 780 had to be re-jetted down, then it easily tacked 5grand & went to 7 WOW..... and all on the top end. I loved that car ! Deep Navy Blue with all the white decals. Chromed fake factory hood carb inserts. ...........Faster that a cop car ! ......................AS ME HOW I KNOW ?............. LOL ! @Bartonovich523 жыл бұрын
The government just gave a boot in the ass to a lazy industry that was addicted displacement.. putting ever larger truck engines into shortened grocery getters. Touting huge HP numbers from an engine that was bolted to a stand and prony brake with no air cleaner, no exhaust headers, no accessories, not even a water pump.. and then run until it seized and the highest number is what went in the brochure. For a car that had all of that stuff on the engine and then it went through a slush box and bias ply tires to get maybe half rated power to asphalt. And it shows. I was chasing an STI up a hill in my portly Impala just having some fun and I see one of these cars come whipping out into the right lane behind me wanting to play. Haha.. nope! See ya!

i owned a '69 SS 396 325 hp Hugger orange with white vinyl top white interior back in H.S. in 1970. I was fortunate to witness all the muscle cars of the 60's 70's and will never forget them. The baddest one off the showroom floor was the '69 Z/28. It was very fast and nothing could touch it back then. The GTO Judge and the Mustang Boss 302's were flashy with great colors they would circle my High School and I loved just watching those wonderful "muscle" cars keep making the rounds until the bell rang...... oh the days! My toy these days is a 2013 Boss 302 Gotta have it Green" color. I only drive it on the weekend to keep the miles off it. This the last of the 302's and it is a beast compared to the best of 60's and 70's but I still will own another orange 69 like I had in H.S. to reminisce of my "Glory" day.

Beautiful car and top-tiier car-gasm material for Chevy muscle fans. I understand and respect that people like to restore them to factory condition with the grease pencil marks, original decals, and over spray, but they really over did it on the over spray on the engine. Looks like crap. Way to ruin the look of that rare, beautiful aluminum hardware. I wasn't alive in 1969, but something tells me the factory didn't get that stupid with over spray, and there is a reason why you don't see people doing it to their own cars; it looks awful.
@christhompson23618 жыл бұрын
Love the car but that sloppy orange paint on the engine was awful even if similar to factory. Looks like it was spray painted after the fact
@howabouthetruth21574 жыл бұрын
That is EXACTLY how they did them at the factory. Remember, these cars were done via mass production methods. The shop that did the restoration on this car did an amazing job......down to every detail, including what you consider "a sloppy paint job on the engine".......it literally INCREASES the value of the car, FACT.
