I don't mean to be rude but let me correct you... It's actually a midi controller that then goes to the kaoss pad off stage, or whatever he wants it to control. While yes he does make a lot of crazy sounds, this song actually uses a digitech wammy for a ton of the crazy pitch shifting sounds. Either way Muse is awesome!

@Gr33nMamba3 жыл бұрын
That "LED Pad" is the screen portion taken from a "Korg Kaoss Pad", he's essentially just using the X&Y axis as an interface for pitch shifting on the fly, he'll use it for things like the solo section in Super Massive Blackhole. The Second Law album was some of the most experimental tracks they had put out to date, electronic sounds have always been in their albums quite early.
@Grant-A-Slam3 жыл бұрын
if you watch the making of the 2nd law he uses his MB 1 guitar and a Digit tech Whammy
@sorkaem4 жыл бұрын
This is from The 2nd Law album released in 2012, Muse tried dubstep among other things in this album especially on this song though they played it all with real instruments (fans lost their mind when this track was released and everyone was screaming "Muse went Dubstep" XD). It's funny that you would mention Mylene Farmer, because there were talks of a possible collaboration between Muse and her at some point, but it never happened ! It would be fun to watch though !

I went to watch this tour in Munich and London... The videos are great, but don't nearly capture the sheer intensity of sound, light, heat, and the bass shaking your entire body! I reckon Muse 2013 must be up there in the greatest live tours of all time...

This song is amazing live.. The bass is unreal! And yes it's all played via guitar.. All the silly cool sounds are played using Matts Manson guitar with the x y controller and a lot of programming.

You can’t really appreciate this band until you see them live. It’s three guys (yes, there’s background artists sometimes when they can’t play multiple instruments at the same time). Three guys make more diverse sounds than bands with double the members. And they’re great at everything. You just have to see them to see just how talented they are

for the effects in question, he's using a whammy pedal to pitch up and down octaves but its being controlled via midi to be able to switch settings quickly and toe up/down faster than a human could.

For this track, pitch shift MIDI data is being sent to manipulate the guitar signal live. The pad is a KAOSS pad, which can also be used as a MIDI controller live

So Matt's usual guitar contains a fuzz factory pedal, a sustainiac (magnets that produce infinite sustain) and an XY pad to control guitar effects. This song he's practically just playing a few notes, which is being changed by MIDI in his Digitec Whammy pedal (pitch shifter). The majority of the noises he makes is generally some f*ed up combination of all of that going off at once. He uses other effects but those are the main ones.
