And by changing, they (and their fans) need to accept that some people are not going to be happy with that. People don't have to love every song of a band. Not to mention that their new songs are catchy, but they are inferior in a lot of aspects (like conplexity and originality) when compared to the older ones.
@kananbeanandme1467 жыл бұрын
Zoro on Fire I agree 100% .. once I realized after The 2nd Law the direction MUSE we’re going in I had to accept it and realize the songs were going to be more catchy and less unique . Muse is the best arena rock band since the turn of the century. They have to carry water for a lot of people. And as a result expectations are always unrealistically high for new releases. Dig down and Thought Contagion are Singles. Singles get radio play. Radio play gets people to come to the concert. The concert is where they hit us with the epic album cuts that are Not radio friendly. So relax, be patient, Muse will deliver. They always do.
7 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU! I'm trying to deliver this point to people but they don't understand! Muse, inevitably, became too big, because they are very good indeed. They need to satisfy the commercial audience as well, and, accept it or not, they do radio songs better than anyone in the last 25 years! They are just too good.
@morningbell70467 жыл бұрын
Yeah, except they’re not a band to often play deep cuts at concerts. There had been exceptions and rarity shows, but if you look at the regular tour set, you’d find mostly singles from old (excluding Showbiz) and newer albums.

I think it's perfectly valid for people to drop off at some point because a band's style no longer matches their own. But, with that being said, Muse is one of my favorite bands of all time BECAUSE they are able to change their style without changing the soul of their music. The exploration of themes that are both timely and timeless, the foregrounding of heterogeneity...I think Muse poses a compelling argument against the singular, linear narrative.
@Star-Hole7 жыл бұрын
It's definitely valid for people to drop out whenever but it's not fair to blame the musicians. Yes bands change over time, but so does the listener. We're all constantly changing. It's natural for people to change their minds. It's quite insane to feel betrayed because a band changed their sound in a particular album. We aren't married to MUSE. It's definitely a disservice to the band especially since they have tried pretty hard to connect with their fans.
@wheeinitnow58237 жыл бұрын

Everyone needs to accept that artists evolve. Change is the only constant in this world so why not embrace it and enjoy the ride! I've been a massive fan since the early days and if you're gonna compare the old with the new, it's different for sure. The last two singles are much simpler than so many of their "best works" but firstly we don't know what the rest of the album sounds like, and secondly I personally try to listen to each new song with fresh ears without trying to compare it to anything. In that respect it's a good single and the video clip is great. Definitely Thriller inspired which can only be a good thing! I was fortunate enough to see them live a couple of months ago for the first time and they were just insanely incredible. Keep doing whatever the hell you want, Muse, and ignore the haters! 😘😘

Yes, evolving. They went fucking backwards with this. It's incredibly over simplistic, nothing really stands out, 10 seconds into the song and you've already heard all it has to offer, which, honestly, has already been done a million times by now. Same with Dig Down, they just copy-pasted Madness, the sound, the structure, even the solo sounds almost the same and even starts in the same part of the song. It's the same fucking song but worse. I'm all for experimentation and evolution but at least put some effort in it dammit. They're just being lazy now, and it shows

Muse fans forget the very reason they fell in love with Muse, they sounded different. Whether is be Matt going ham with vocal arrangements, their crazy riffs or odd chord progressions, Muse has always been the definition of innovative with music, something we sincerely still need in the modern era of music. You may not like this song, but saying stuff like "I miss old Muse." is just silly and entitled. Let them do what they love and what's fun to them.

I don’t get muse fans and how they hate on the sound direction they go with every new album. Showbiz: “discount Radiohead” Origins: Grunge elements with a mix of opera Absolution: alternate Punk rock Black holes: western opera with electronic elements. More relaxed than absolution Resistance: alternative with less emphasis on the opera 2nd law: experimenting with mixing of synth with opera Drones: telling of a story from start to finish metal opera 8th album: strong emphasis on 80’s new wave mixed with their signature absurdity. There is a reason why they seldom play anything from Showbiz at their shows now

Jesus Christ, Muse fans are toxic as hell. At least appreciate the fact that they are still a band and still making new music for you. I hate this smug attitude people have over change. Bands shouldn't stay the same style for years and years, it would get boring and stale.

pringelsthegamefreak not as toxic as Linkin Park fans before Chester died. Seriously, when Heavy came out, people got their fucking pitchforks out.

Really, did bands like metallica and Guns N Roses get boring over the years, their styles remained pretty similar from album to album. The haters have a fair point, their style today is completely different to the style they fell in love with. So why would they appreciate this new style when its not the style for them? Muse will always have a special place in my heart but i have stopped following them for a while now because they surely did become a sell out and they were teasing us with the possibility of this for years.. If you like the new style then good on you, but for all the OG Muse fans that don't, its fair reasoned.

Their music is different each album, and I’m cool with that. I like a group that experiments.

Lotus Abagander it almost seems that each album is a different band, pretty cool

They're not experimenting at all. They did before, but this is probably one of the most mainstream things they ever did. Nothing experimental about it.

Nothing experimental here, this is about as normie as it gets.
