Andrew, I highly recommend having ONE ad set to start with 6 ads and a fairly broad targeting. All your budget will go into it, letting you know much sooner which ads are duds. After you run it for a bit you can duplicate more ad sets but only include the top 2-4 ads and use those for targeting other audiences.

I ran a campaign for my newest release using a variation of your methods and it definitely helped! Along w/ submithub and other submissions it's one of my most successful first couple weeks of a release ever! It's definitely true that you have to wait a bit before the cost per conversion lowers. Thank for all your help again man!

Great vid again Andrew. Much appreciated for all your top informarion. Could I ask how are you managing to avoid or steer around the dreaded click farm type scenario. How do you keep your traffic high quality with good engagement for streams? Is it just a matter of avoiding certain countries? Minimum spend threshold? Platform targeting? I seem to get poor conversions. Thanks if you see this.

I got such a tug of war going in my mind - dive into learning more about ads, which will take away from time spent MAKING music...OR just focus on music and let the chips fall where they may as far as results are concerned.
@AndrewSouthworth3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately music doesn't even promote itself. Letting the chips just fall will lead to failure at least 99% of the time. As much as it sucks to take time away from making music, if you want anywhere to hear your music its the only option.

I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on promoting music videos in the future. I’ve had some good results promoting my latest album on Spotify with your helpful videos. Getting ready to release a new music video in a couple weeks, so it’s great to be able to see you doing a music video campaign with this new track you’re pushing. I’ve been trying to decide if FB ads would be effective to drive traffic to my new music video. I will definitely check out your video on KZbin ads again as I kick into creating ads and really trying to push my new video. Thanks for sharing so much great info in your videos. It’s super helpful to see and hear your insights.

Great stuff! I've had a campaign going for 10 days now with almost 500 conversions to my distrokid landing page then to Spotify. The weird thing is that my conversions aren't being represented on Spotify, I only have maybe 100 new streams this week. Shouldn't the number of conversions match the number of streams? Since a conversion only happens when they click the Spotify button on my landing page?

Does anyone have smart idea what I could be doing wrong? Great content by the way, extremely helpful! Greetings from Germany :)

Hi @Andrew, we recently released our latest song Tell Me Something yesterday, used toneden to create a landing page to KZbin and Spotify and fb ad campaign. Even though ad manager shows more than 170 view content conversions and toneden page insight also showing more than 170 Spotify click throughs, the live counter on Spotify has only 15 views. My daily budget was 5000 inr for 1 day. Now I have drastically reduced my spending amount as I think the money got wasted. Also another thing I noticed, the Facebook ads on insta stories promoting others music, when I click the link to Spotify, it shows error and doesn't take me to Spotify. Maybe everybody is having this problem? Until this problem is rectified, ads directing to Spotify is a waste of money

Hey there. I´m having the same problem. Yesterday, I got more than 200 conversions but only 4 new followes and no more than 7 streams. Does anybody knows what is happening with those hundreds of people !?
@colortheory3 жыл бұрын
Today I only got 4 new followers, and Spotify Artists shows only 414 views of the song (not exactly sure what that means) with 1K conversions. I'm going to try targeting only first world countries and if that doesn't work, only stories placements.
@GianCarliniOficial3 жыл бұрын
@@colortheory the views mean those people that have listened your song for less than 30 seconds (that’s the reason for being a “view” and not a “stream”). Did you change your ad set or just suddenly the results change? In my case, I start using a lookalike audiencia without segmentation and i guess that’s the problem (perhaps most of the conversions doesn’t have a spotify account) 😐
@colortheory3 жыл бұрын
@@GianCarliniOficial Oh! I thought views meant they visited the track/album page. Thanks for clarifying! In my case, I didn't change anything drastically. So you're thinking people clicked on Spotify even though they didn't have an account? It seems like most would just abandon the page and not convert.

Hey really good video! But I got a question: Does facebook automaticly turn of adsets that dont work as good as others? Or have I to do it myself?
@AndrewSouthworth3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! They will reduce budget and eventually stop spending money in worse ad sets, but depending on the size of them they still might run if they're very large. So I always turn off bad performing ad sets manually as well if I know they're not going to improve based on the data.

@AndrewSouthworth3 жыл бұрын
On FB thats totally why the CTR was worse, but it actually improved the CTR of the landing page itself since more people had a service on the page. Since i'm optimizing for JUST Spotify conversions, FB doesn't count people who click elsewhere and will drive to find more people specifically who want Spotify.

@AndrewSouthworth3 жыл бұрын
It seems to be running okay! The cost you need depends on the targeting and also the countries. Just like FB ads, Google ads is an auction except they actually let you pick your bid. Another factor is that the required auction pricing will actually change over time.

@@AndrewSouthworth Ah gotcha. Do you think eventually Facebook would allow us to set our bid as well ?
