Surprised this doc didn't mention the final Queen song to feature John Deacon, No-One But You (Only the Good Die Young) released in 1997 as a tribute to Freddie. I cannot listen to it without crying.

If you haven’t heard “Death on Two Legs”, it was Freddie’s FU to Trident Studios co- owner/manager.

Check out Queen live 1976 Hyde Park as Freddie sings his new song You Take My Breath Away. Also White Queen live at Hammersmith and then Somebody to Love and Save Me at Montreal 1981. Btw David Bowie and Queen wrote a song called Under Pressure. Go down the Queen rabbit hole-200 songs. Also check out Freddie’s underrated solo albums Mr. Bad Guy and his opera album Barcelona. Americans loved Queen. All concerts sold out.

There are a number of important events that were not included. Such as Brian playing on the roof celebrating the monarch Queen 10 years ago and then he and Adam playing for the huge celebration for Queen Elizabeth just over a year ago. I hope that you review some of Queen with Adam. One of the most notable was Adam singing Who Wants to Live Forever in concert on the Isle of Wight. Enjoyed this video immensely!!

Brian playing on top of Buckingham Palace is 20 years ago - the Golden jubilee. 10 years ago was the diamond jubilee - without Queen- and last year was the platinum jubilee with Queen and Adam Lambert.

As a producer you should check out "The Making of One Vision" which is a fascinating insight into how they recorded it. I think there are two versions---make sure you watch the longer one which is about 25 minutes long.

Regarding the posthumous album Made In Heaven: The three remaining band members didn't just "stumble upon" unfinished material and then decide to complete it... In Freddie's last months, the whole band went to stay in Montreux to get away from the paparazzi who were hounding Fred. While there, they spent every moment that they could in the recording studio with Freddie, giving him the opportunity to record as many pieces of lyrics as possible. (According to Brian, Freddie asked them to "just give him words to sing". They were writing lyrics on scraps of paper/whatever was available to write on.} When Fred felt up to it physically, he'd call them/they'd meet up in the studio to record until he had to go rest again. With each lyric, Freddie recorded THREE takes (so that later, when the remaining band members completed the songs, they would have three takes of each lyric vocal to choose the best of). He did this because he knew the band would be finishing the material after he'd passed away. Since then, the band have released other previously unfinished material, too: In 2014, they released "Let Me In Your Heart Again", which had been a 1984 demo. In recent months, they released SIX new songs as part of The Miracle commemorative boxed set. (Including "Face It Alone", which - in its first week out - went to Number 1 in over 20 countries, and was viewed on YT around 10 million times!)

I was lucky enough to see them in Sydney and then again at the Fire Fight charity show the next night. They were magnificent. I dare say, Adam may well have been blessed by Freddie from beyond. His voice is magnificent.

I agree, saw Queen + Adam Lambert in Melbourne Australia in 2020 just before lockdown! They were absolutely amazing, Adam is the only singer who could fill Freddie’s shoes.

Saw them in 2019. Best concert I’ve ever been to. Would Freddie have been another level? Of course. But it’s not my fault that they stopped touring the US with Freddie when I was 9. I never got the chance to see him. But, Adam’s voice is astonishing, and he has never once tried to fill Freddie’s shoes. He simply tries to honour the songs. Brian and Roger? Good lord, they are still phenomenal. And Spike, Neil, and Tyler all perform admirably, where instrumentally, if you closed your eyes, you would think you were listening to Queen circa 1985. Got my tickets to see them again this October, and I am beyond excited.

Going to be seeing them in Nashville this year! After pounding the “buy” button for 39 minutes, I scored awesome seats…entire show sold out in 46 minutes (and I did this all during my annual physical in my drs office…I’m still alive I guess, lol…seriously…priorities!!) My husband saw Queen with Freddie in the late 70s (I think the News of the World Tour) and I was a kid the last time they did a US tour. But, Adam is great, and I love how happy Roger and Brian are…I won’t ever see Freddie live, but I’ll see Queen live…massive Bucket List item. Can’t wait!!!

This is inaccurate in some points, eg right at the beginning, Brian, Tim Staffell and Roger Taylor didn't go to the same University. Brian was the one at Imperial College, studying astrophysics and Tim was at Art School, where he and Freddie were friends. Roger was studying dentistry elsewhere. They all became part of an extended social group that included members of both Ibex/Wreckage (Freddie's first proper band after his school rock'n'roll group, the Hectics) and Smile/Queen. As a music producer, if you haven't already seen it, I'm sure you'd enjoy the YT video called (IIRC) Inside the Rhapsody, about the making of Bohemian Rhapsody. It's very long though; Brian May goes through the whole thing pretty much note by note with all the inside information.

Listen to all their albums in order. You’ll see their incredible development. Such a brilliant band. No one could sing like Freddie Mercury. Innuendo-the whole album is great! Also check out Freddie’s song In My Defense and Time Waits For No one. Awesome! All 4 members are also in the songwriter’s rick ‘n roll hall of fame. Only band!

THey had huge popularity in Japan and even wrote a song with Japanese, Teo Torriatte, in honor of their fans. You would like the Making of One Vision video because it shows tons of their recording equipment, if you haven't seen it yet. Worth reacting to Stone Cold Crazy - the record version as well as a live version. Oh and you should DEFINITELY react to Innuendo - Freddie's reflections on the human condition as he faced his own mortality.

Freddie had a degree in graphic Alf fashion arts. Roger went for some dentistry and changed to get a degree in biology. John got a high honors in electronic engineering. Brian ,(Dr Brian May) got a degree and is a astrophysicist. So all band members studies when possible to get degrees. Educated rock band ! And Brian built his famous guitar with his father when he was a teen, THE RED SPECIAL. Therefore it’s own special sound

Like many, I know exactly where I was when I learned of Freddie’s death. I read it in a small piece in my local US newspaper. The GIANT news that same day was Magic Johnson’s announcement that he was HIV positive and days of coverage about Magic’s claims about the astronomical number of women he’d had sex with.

Some more Queen facts...they are each highly educated. Roger- biology, John- electronic engineer, inventor of the Deacy amp; Freddie- graphic arts, he designed their signature logo, and Sir Dr. Brian May,PHd astrophysics. They each wrote number one hits. And yes, John did retire around 1992 however Brian and Roger consult John regarding all Queen business including the biopic. There are hundreds more interesting facts but you decide if you want to jump down that rabbit hole.

Tim Staffel and Freddie were in art college together and were good friends. Tim wasn't at the same college as Brian, and he remembers Freddie singing the first lines of Bohemian Rhapsody as he was working on the song back then. Freddie and Roger operated a 2nd hand stall together before they were in the band together. They all knew each other. Tim brought Freddie along to Smile gigs, and they would listen to Freddie in his blues based band. It was natural for musicians to try out different bands and Smile wasn't making headway in developing a following, so it was a natural progression for Tim to want to move on with another band, and Freddie to step in.

My Queen Greatest Hits CD is always in the car and played when we go on long trips. 'Innuendo' is one of my favourite songs along with 'Spread your wings' and 'In the Lap of the Gods' Such a sad loss when Freddie died. I love Adam Lamberts voice I am pleased he doesn't want to be Freddie. QUEEN with Adam released an album during the pandemic of course I have it

Wow, that just gave me many flashbacks... and a few goosebumps. Queen's music is a major portion of the soundtrack of my youth. As a sophomore in high school, I was in the audience at 2 of those 3 sold out Madison Square Garden shows in 1980, mentioned in this video... (saw them 2 other times as well). Witnessing the resurgence of Queen in recent years with the release of the movie Bohemian Rhapsody warms my heart, as well as seeing younger generations' reactions to hearing Queen for the first time.

A lot of people criticise Hot Space, but I enjoy it quite a bit. IMO the mistake was the singles chosen: "Dancer" and "Put Out The Fire" would have been better choices than "Body Language" and "Staying Power". And if they needed an alternative to "Put Out The Fire" in the US (as I imagine that song wouldn't have gone over well there), they could have chosen "Back Chat".

I have been a Queen fan since the release of their debut album in 1973. I am still listening in 2023. They stay as my most beloved band and some of the most cherished moments of my life were spent at live Queen concerts in the mid 70's. I still fail to understand all of the dislike of I Want To Break Free in this country. It is a landmark video and was written by bass guitarist John Deacon. Elements of this video can be seen in Queen's The Show Must Go On that are unforgettable. I remain a die never Queen fan!!!

Freddie loved Elvis. He wrote the song in tribute to Elvis. Freddie was in the soaking in a bath when a tune came to him. He asked his friend to bring him a guitar in the bath. He wrote the song while in the bathtub. Freddie emulated his singing to sound like Elvis on the song. That's why younger generations think it was originally done by Elvis. Us that were alive during this time knew the it was a Freddie original because we grew up with both Elvis and Queen.
