Fun fact The people you see in the video are just their fans. Sum41 announced that they would be doing a free show at a skatepark and lots of fans showed up and brough all sorts of weird things. I don't think the fans knew they were gonna turn it into the video for this song so everyone is acting pretty naturally, though everyone was obviously drunk as hell lmao
@luffyiscool3 жыл бұрын
The most effective part of the video for me is the drunk girl having a meltdown in the alley with her friend while telling the cameraman to leave them alone. While I feel sorry for whatever the girl was going through, I love that it shows that the whole video was organic, if that makes sense. It was all a real experience, no rehearsals. Just a straight up outdoor party that was also captured on video.

@rossmacintosh5652 Жыл бұрын
The story I heard was they didn't announce the performance at all. They set up in that grungy place and just started playing the song repeatedly. Over many hours they just played it over and over with the crowd growing organically. The vast majority of those people probably had no idea who Sum41 even were and that the song was played over & over without explanation must have seemed funny. From the hours of recorded footage the video was edited. Although Sum41 are Canadians the video was recorded in California.

David: "I'm feeling a little depressed right now [...] so I wanted an uplifting one." nobody: absolutely nobody: King Vibe: You should listen to Amity Affliction! Still... I strongly agree. I adore Amity Affliction, even though there are songs of bands I like better, Amity Affliction keep their place is my hear as my favorite. I love heavy music but sometimes I want clear vocals, and they give me all of that and feed my longing soul with clear vocals right after screaming in my face. Also I love the blunt, yet poetic descriptions of mental illness. We all know depression exists, yet rarely the exact words like depression or anxiety are mentioned in songs - since it's still kind of "taboo" to actually mention it. Most songwriters put those words into metaphors. Amity gives us the name AS WELL AS metaphors to feel those concepts and I appreciate that a lot, since it calls the demon by its name while also describing it for sufferers to relate to and for bystanders to give them a grasp of it. I remember the first time I heard "Drag the Lake" when they sing "All the panic, depression the hurt and neglect. Lying to myself I don't think of death." my first reaction was feeling a cringey vibe but I thought about it (as you can see) and came to the conclusion that it felt cringey because it's taboo to name the child by its name, so now I'm glad someone is brave enough to risk coming of as cringey to be able to provide comfort and education.

New sub here. Great video quality. I appreciate someone of your music acumen having such nice things to say about Sum 41. They are named because they formed on the 41st day of summer when they were in high school. Your takes on them are spot on, they are just 4 guys and they can actually rock. I have been pounding the table for nearly a quarter century that Sum 41 is head and shoulders above their contemporaries. They did an MTV music awards show with Tommy Lee and Rob Halford when they were still teenagers. Plucked out of Ajax, CN after being noticed as the top high school band in the greater area. If you haven't already, I would love to see you do a video on Still Waiting. It was the last song on that record and was written in response to 9/11. Additionally, they matured and continued to diversify adding keyboards and exploring many sub-genres of rock. I've seen them live three times and even once got pulled up on stage. They are a fantastic live show. Live music is hard for me because of the crowd density and overall decibel levels. Sum 41 has always rocked and just this month announced that they are calling it a career. An amazing journey that included Deryck having a brush with death and a long ICU room stay.

YESSS To answer a couple questions: 1. Yes, they are still touring and recording new stuff. Newest album was in 2019. Although since Fat Lip their lead guitarist has departed, come back, they added a second guitarist, and the original drummer left. 2. The name I believe comes from the fact that they formed their band on the 41st day of summer, so naturally....

Krysta Cameron's albums songs A1 - Cats Pajamas -You Ain't No Family -Danger In The Manger A2 -You know That Ain't Them Dogs Real -Voices -I'm Gonna Shoot -Button It Up Courtney LaPlante takes lead songs A1 -Gift Of Death -Green Eyes A2 -Boat Paddle -Firebees -Thunder Chunky
