This band gives me chills no matter how often I listen to them. Their story, especially in recent years, is one of both tragedy and strength. The band was founded by twin brothers Dan (drums) and Tom (guitar) and in 2016 Tom passed away from cancer. He was their primary song writer (including lyrics) and their album All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is about him coming to terms with the fact that he was going to die very soon. After he passed, his brother took over the songwriting duties and the album this song is from "Holy Hell" is, in my opinion, the best album about facing loss and dealing with grief that exists. I've yet to find another heavy band that portrays emotion and pain the way they do and it's so cathartic.

While you're down the British metalcore road, check out While She Sleeps - Silence Speaks (feat. Oli Sykes) or Anti-Social. Love Architects, have seen them live a couple of times and his vocal on this song is amazing live too. He also uses his characteristic "BLEGH" noise near the end of this one. He didn't "invent" it but since they got big it's become more common to hear that vocalisation in metalcore. What's not that common and the reason I usually recognise his vocals immediately, is the tonal screams (rather than playing with the vowel sounds to change the pitch). I was watching Matt Heafy do a live acoustic cover of this song on Twitch and he commented that this was a kind of scream that he can't do at all.

As a person who's been doing vocal fry / false cord for over 10 years now, It just takes a lot of practice to get the tone and stamina to do it. I practice doing these type of vocals for 2-3 hours a day straight, of course taking a break in between, but you learn how to do it efficiently while going back to a softer tone (clean vocals) in between harsher ones. It's the same type of practice in learning vibrato or head voice, you can't just learn how to do it overnight, but each day you start learning little tricks on how to get to that sound you're trying to achieve.

The technique Sam Carter uses to scream is known as the "vocal fry" technique which is all about activating the false cords. Think of the noise from the film The Grudge, but with more power and added pitch through proper breathing and air management techniques. It's kind of like a pitched vocal belt but with even more intensity and gravel.
