I'd like to point out that in the case of having many views on KZbin with little likes or comments, that could be the case of somebody having advertised that video through Google Ads and therefore it will naturally have many more views than engagement because it's being seen by so many people.

Greetings from Australia... Thankyou for the advice... Our band Minus Pinto just released our first song called Want to know on KZbin and I have no idea how to promote it or get gigs, it's quite a challenge, also getting Facebook likes seems difficult at present... This helped and will watch more videos on your channel to get my head around this. I always believed the statement 'It's not what you know it's who you know' but do you think this has flipped? Anyways your awesome dude :)

Sounds like all great advice! I've been making songs and videos and I love it but really been trying to get people to come to see is the hardest part.. I'm learning to go where the people are and try to reach them there! It always comes down to how much time and money is available and how much do you want to invest! I do it for the love of it! There's always something new to learn!

This is all great advice, but it's also very expensive. Each suggestion alone may not be, but it all adds up fast. Maybe you could do a video that provides info about just how to go about getting sponsorships/funding? Being a singer-songwriter seems to be the most expensive thing one can be in the music industry. You pay for everything on your own & that's ultimately why artists often release music without all the bells & whistles & pretty packaging that we would all no doubt love to have. The problem is we ran out of money, but we still feel like it's better to have the tunes out there at least. And maybe you could do a video about crowdfunding? Because that seems like it would only really work once you have a huge following or if you know some rich people. Lol. Anyway, thanks for your videos man. I really do appreciate them. I'm just always struggling with the money end of things & I work my ass off trust me. Sometimes to the detriment of my being able to spend time on my art. I hardly sleep, I skip meals for days... all to save some money, but it goes fast. And I know that we all do, I'm not trying to sound special here. I'm just saying that I'm sure I'm not alone in reacting/feeling this way when I see a video like this.

I can honestly say that I would never use autotune, just because everybody and their mother is using it. It's just so played out. God forbid, that I ever think of a song where I would say that I would need to use it.

What about musicians who play for free for exposure?. I think that needs to stop.
@Sumbibebe6 жыл бұрын
js100serch hi I’m Sumbi, playing for exposer is a free way to get what you need, “EXPOSER”. If you have great material and your fans love ya, you won’t be playing for free for a long time. Think of a free gig as bait, you are the hook, and the crowd/fans are the fish. After you hook the fish and reel them in, you never keep giving them free bait. Your fans will pay you in advance for your bait. Playing for free will let you know if you are using the correct bait or help you modify your bait to catch some good fish. Now, all of this is bla, bla, bla... if your material sucks. How to make it not suck is the question and I have the answer to that but I’ll let you and other fans of this great Music Business Advice site “MBA” brainstorm this but I’ll tell you that it isn’t your studio, your gear, or all the stuff that makes you broke. It’s right in your face but only 1% can see it. Tell me what you think here in this page and I’ll be back with the answer on what is the Silver Bullet for success and without it you will never ever make it. I’m a fan of MBA and let’s keep the dialogue going right here. Cool, I’m Sumbi

If you genuinely love music and have a passion for it then playing for free dosent matter
@KennyRider1376 жыл бұрын
+Julian Worden A lot of audiences expect artists to give everything away because they think we are just oozing with new work and just live to share what we do for free. There has to be a bar set in this business just like any other. You may love to do woodworking, but why should a homeowner ask you to detail their home for free? If you have the means to do it, fine. But when five of you are doing it for free now the consumer expects that from all woodworkers.

Hope this comment was a joke... Most huge bands played live for free before getting recognition from a record label.

You need to (my bad if you are already doing this, this is my first video of yours) stop handing out lists to people without the corresponding table of contents. I know you want people to look through all the video get the "full picture", but trust me, so many of us have some of this stuff figured out, so timestamps and names of the "suggestions" will be extremely valued and would make higher the content value and professionalism in your work. That being said I'm really thankful for you sharing these pieces of gems. Example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5WofYOaZ6xjq7M Also another tip as from the example and life in general. Positive advice works always better, so don't do this can always be rewritten in try focusing on doing that, and then you would mention what no focusing on that could lead to and why that would potentially be harmful. Ill prove it, did you notice the negative stance in the beginning of this comment? I'm truly amazed that you even got this far, I congratulate you, it means you have learned to see the good in criticism, in fact there is nothing else to be taken from it, unless it is malevolent nonesense. Anywhoo listen to this beginning: 7 highly effective boost for starting/indie musicians, 1) try seeing a variety of shows in your area build network etc, this might lead to.... the dangers of doing all alone.... you get the point. This will broaden the audience and cater wider loads of mucisians instead of having the nagging attitude which doesn't flow through many but You yet.

not just originality but taste. if bands paid more attention to the numerous gimmicks over decades that now are embarrassing jokes, maybe they'd avoid 'em. Would n't it be cool if listeners in 2030 or 40 respected your music. Think about the silly organ in Telstar, the muskrat love gurgling noise or the wawaw 70s thingy in "The Way We were" Today's foolish gimmick is the constant impossible-to-avoid synth cymbal strike on the 2nd 4th beats or wherever it falls.
