When Elvis walked on a stage it was so electrifying....I'm not sure if anyone today still has that effect on their audiences like Elvis did....and always gave it all he had in every show....Elvis loved the powder blue jumpsuit because it was for some reason a little lighter and was fit a little different so he could be more comfortable in it.....

The thing about Elvis is that one of his other great talents that doesn't get discussed as much, is his talent for arranging. He did a lot of the arranging. There are even rehearsal videos of him doing that during practice for a given song, and then you can go see the live performance of it and watch the fruit come to bear. Fun reaction.

Elvis had hands down the greatest show openers...not taking away from his concerts as a whole. There was the warm up acts, then the intermission, which is when Elvis usually got to the building. Moments later, the house & lobby lights would flicker telling indicating the shows about to start. No announcements, just the lights going off & 2001 starting to blare. Then, along with Tutt's drumming and the crowd, there was this deep rumble as the lights went off again, then the music hits and Elvis makes his way from the back, up the stairs and on the stage to an eruption from thousands. The dark arena is turned into daylight by all the camera flashes. It flowed like no other...I could listen to every opening with CC Rider...it never gets old. It's been described as unearthly, mind blowing, other worldly, and some just can't put it into words.....And that was just the opening! PEACE!

I remember hearing that when James Burton purchased the pink guitar he was concerned that Elvis might not like it....turned out he loved it.Loved the blue suit and the way he comes on stage and walks up and down so everyone gets to see him and get ready for a great time and great memories. ...Even watching these concerts so many years later they are fresh and it's like seeing them for the frst time. Watching Elvis perform is watching greatness....period.

The best band ever, the best intro song ever; and of course THE GOAT = ELVIS PRESLEY! I have seen him 5 times in concert and believe me from the first second till the last second everybody became crazy of him because of his electrifying performances, we were ripping the place apart, they had to hire somebody, his name was Joe Dvorak, to shout at the end of the concert "Elvis has left the buildiing" or we all would still be there.

Elvis looks and sounds inspired here, and this is a high-energy version of the song. Fantastic backing by the likes of Tutt, Hardin, Burton etc. Maybe it was the filming of the Movie "Elvis On Tour" that lifted his spirits for a while. Two months later (June 9-11th 1972), he shook the rafters of Madison Square Garden, looking ten times better than he does in this video, and showing the New York audience how it should be done..His setlist, especially the later years, were, with variations of course, almost identical. He must have gotten ultra-bored as the touring went on, and visiting the same cities he had done a 100 times before. By the way, I recommend the "Elvis On Tour" (1972) movie to ANYONE who has the slightest interest in music.

No he didn't. The fanfair that played prior to his walking on stage was called "Also Sprach Zarthestra: Theme from 2001 A space Odessey. That blended right into See See Rider. His startes at That time were See See Rider and I got A Woman/Amen (medly). Occasionally, he'd substitute That's All Right Mama. Typically 2 songs at the Mic with the guitar. In the 1969 during his first Vegas stint, it was mostly Blue Suede Shoes as his starter. From 1971 on, it was See See Rider.

I've always been an Elvis fan and love seeing reactions from those who are experiencing Elvis and his music for the first time. I enjoy probably 99% of his songs. This one however is in the 1%. In my opinion, it's too fast. This song was originally a much slower, bluesy style song covered by Chuck Willis 60 years ago and known then as "C. C. Rider". That's the version I prefer and I would suggest you, and all the others out there who can't wait to respond to call me a dumb ass, give it a try. If you listen and don't agree with me, THEN you can call me a dumb ass.

I'd be interested in hearing you comment on how this 1972 version of C.C. Rider compares to Elvis' later performances of the same song. In 1972 Elvis' energy was strong while doing this song, and his voice seemed lower, more powerful, and even husky compared to his voice on this song later, even in 1973.

An interesting fact is when the Osmonds started their touring in the early 70's their mother called and asked Elvis for his permission for them to use the same style of Jumpsuits that he used. Now thiers was of different colors.

This for me is the best version of See See Rider. Could you react to Polk Salad Annie from the same show? I would be interested to hear what you think of that version over the 1970 version. In my opinion, the 1972 version has a more hard rock feel to it. Great reaction. Take care.

tintinesk5 . Great comment my friend, with valid points. I do agree with you. I made my comment just out of the two documentaries, That’s the way it is, and Elvis on tour in mind. But you are right. The November 1972 version (if I’m not mistaken) was from San Benardino.

Good evening John. It's been a while since I posted. There is another live version of this song (no video footage) that is the best version (almost as good as if it were a studio version). It's from his "ON STAGE FEB 1970" album. He seemed to give it a lot more attention in the 1970 version, than later when he began doing it to open his show. Check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4DbnmNtn92CntU
