Yes, John was 54 years old when he did this show, being born in July 1949, and in this show his regular backup vocalist “Lisa Edwards” was sitting in the audience with her new baby, about 10-15 rows back, enjoying her incredible view of John’s powerful performance, which she totally loved. She was on “maternity leave” but still supported John and loved every moment of John performing with a great almost front row view. Awesome

One of the best songs ever written. John is a master vocalist and always does this song justice. The song really showcases his phenomenal range. The original from Cold Chisel with Ian Moss up front is also amazing.

I love your reactions, knowledge and appreciation of our phenomenal Aussie legend, John Farnham! I have loved him for 50+ years and feel so fortunate to have attended many of his Awesome live Concerts from 1987 to 2019. Even at age 70 in 2019 his voice and performance was absolutely amazing! Sending all my love & best wishes to John for a speedy recovery, so he can enjoy life again with his family, farm & horses.❤

It has never matter what age he was, his voice is always amazing. I saw him in concert when he was around this age, the main event concert with Olivia Newton John and Anthony Warlow. It was over the top amazing. My other two favourite concerts to watch is the one with the Melbourne symphony orchestra and Jesus Christ Super Star. All three concerts/ proformances are off the charts. Unfortunately I was to young for two of the performances. I love the fact that you know so much about John Farnham and his band, I hope your reactions are seen around the world by everyone because John Farnham deserves the recognition and respect.👍👍👍

This is my favourite Cold Chisel song. Just so well written! Farnham respects it while at the same time taking it to another level with THAT voice 😊 Magnificent vocalist & peformer.

The late Steven Prestwich who wrote When The War Is Over after he left Cold Chisel he straight away joined the Little River Band . After LRB original drummer Derek Pellicci left the band in 1984 . LRB in the red financially due to the heavy costs of touring the USA , forcing only the songwriters getting paid through royalties . Steve Prestwich didn’t have newly written songs offer up record , so LRB started on their Playing To Win tour added When The War Is Over to set list . Steven Prestwich agreed for LRB to record When The War Is Over for the 1986 album No Reins. By the time No Reins was released John Farnham and Steven Prestwich had left the band . LRB record company Capital Records USA only released When The War Is Over as single in late 1986 to capitalise on John’s success with You’re The Voice which was number 1 on Australian charts at that moment in time . LRB’s sadly version flopped because capital records didn’t do enough to promote John’s LRB era . In 1988 John solo recording company RCA requested John to re-record When The War Is Over for to used as B side to the single Age Of Reason which became at number 1 hit in Australia. John said in a interview about re-recording When The War Is Over that he very reluctant he was happy to leave the song with his LRB era. But John said he didn’t like the recording process that LRB’s record producer put the band through . So recording song again with his own band and producer when he had more creative freedom . John also said he absolutely loves the song .

This is my favourite dong that John sings. That is not an easy choice as i have SO MANY favourites. But there is just something about this song. I think its because John loves to sing it so much. And he sings it so passionately. My favourite in a very long list of favourites. What a voice!!!

I'll watch anything of John's especially live. I have about 5 copies (records, best ofs, CDs, DVDs etc) & I agree, this version's maturity & sincerity make it the best for me (only by a scrape). Thank you.

I think this was the last time he sang this song live. But what a performence. Its definetly one of my favorite with him. His vocal range is unbelivable 53yo. He is definetly the voice of all time and music genre. I really hope he gets well again and back on stage where he belongs. ❤

No! The only Legend there is John. LRB were nasty and they thought they were bigger than John when Glenn left. They never bothered to know him because he has never put himself above anyone else on stage. I refuse to listen to any of their music. I was at that concert and it was amazing.

Yes, please. Help; John's version of the Beatles song, which is even better than the original in my opinion. Anything else LIVE by John is great; try Granada with opera singer, Anthony Warlow is also brilliant; along with Gethsemane, last night of Jesus Christ Superstar; a rock opera. John can sing anything!
